Class Survey
• Survey must be done on both new build and sea going ship in order
to receive the required certification from class.
• To keep the certification, a ship must do a periodic survey
Periodic Surveys and Inspection
• Carried out to ensure the safety and seaworthiness of vessels
• Keeping the vessel in class, fit for the operators, charterers even for
the owners and for the flag
• Laws force sea-going vessels have to go through a series of
inspections in order to meet minimum requirements to continue
sailing
Annual Survey
• Annual survey done on hull and machinery installation, as well as
electrical installation
• Done in interval of 12 moths
• Survey must be done in period range of 3 months before and after
the last survey done.
Annual Survey
• Survey list:
- Certificate
- External Inspection on Shell plating
- Functional Test and external inspection of steering gear
- External inspection of Main Propulsion Plants, Auxiliaries,
Compressors, H/E, Pipelines, Valves and Fittings.
- External inspection of electrical installation
- External inspection and functional test of Fire Protection and Safety
Equipment
Intermediate Survey
• Intermediate survey done 2,5 years after the ship inauguration. And
class renewal done on the second or third annual survey. Survey done
after docking period
Intermediate Survey
• Survey list ;
- Scrap and water wash vessel underwater area
- Painting and zinc anode
- Propeller and equipments
- Tail shaft
- Vent pipes and Tanks
