become the significant
topic and high priority
is given as it
improves the quality
of human life with
values that challenge
the developing eco
friendly society in IS
today's scenario.
Sustainability is
not only learnt as
a theory but also
implemented by
many
organizations to
provide a
cleaner, greener
& safer
environment.

INTRODUCTION
Purpose
This conceptual paper
helps in creating
awareness about
sustainability and
understanding the
various ideas which
attracts and engage
the employees and
students in eco -
friendly human
resource practices in
educational
Green HR & Sustainability are two different
topics which are nowadays linked with each other.
This paper deals with the meaning of Green
human resource, Sustainability and their link and
importance in today’s scenario. Educational
institutions are progressively more concerned with
sustainability and Green Human Resource
Resource.
IMPORTANT ROLE
Employee participation in
green initiatives increases
the chances of better green
management. Involving
employees in environmental
activities has resulted in
improving environmental
systems such as,
 efficient resource usage
 reducing waste and
 reducing pollution
from workplaces.
MEASURES TO BE
INTRODUCTION
TAKEN FOR
GREEN
ENVIRONMENT
CURRICULUM ACTIVITIES
•Awareness programs, research
programs, seminars and Zero
waste events are the best
platforms that should be
conducted every year on earth
day (April 22) & on
environmental day (June 5) to
gain knowledge and bring out
innovative products from the
recycled materials to create
interest in students.

•Field trips can be organised by

the educational institutions to
experience and to realise the
RENEWABLE RESOURCE
Solar energy are renewable energy which
are proved to be extremely beneficial to our
environment. Installation of solar panels in
educational institutions helps in reducing
electricity bills.
Growing of plants in educational
institutions like Areca plant, spider plant,
dracaena and other ornamental, indoor &
outdoor plants helps in removing toxic agents
from the air and aids in neutralizing the
effect & has the maximum capacity to reduce
air pollution which leads to healthy
environment.
Waste water treatment process can be
installed in educational institutions, which
removes the disease causing contaminants
through a filtering system & purifies the water.
RECYCLE
Recycling is the methodology of
processing used materials (waste) into
new & useful products . Recycling
reduces the use of raw materials that
would have been otherwise used to
produce new products. Consequently, this
practice in educational institutions
saves energy & reduces the amount of
waste that is thrown in dustbins, thereby
making the environment cleaner. As a part
of their green initiatives, several
educational institutions are having tie
ups with recycling institutions and
implementing recycling program to
increase the amount of recycled products
TRANSPORT
Use of college/school bus
instead of individual vehicles
by the employees & students
can help to prevent the
environment from air pollution.
LESS PAPER
Use of papers in educational institutions
may be either minimised / restricted by
converting important official documents &
other papers into automated workflows. This
practice greatly reduces the consumption of
paper ,cost of paper related actions
including copying , printing &
storing , and also saves the time
for searching paper documents.
CONCLUSION
Today’s environmental
problems should be considered as
major societal issues & to be
dealt democratically. A new
educational approach is essential
to equip people to work towards
the goals of sustainable future.
Education for sustainable
development is not just to
reform education & society but
to transform them with values,
knowledge, attitude, & skills .
And thus it is a process of lifelong
learning and action for future
development.
