HOLISTIC
=characterized by
comprehension of the parts of
something as intimately
interconnected and
explicable only by reference
to the whole.

PHYSIOLOGICAL
Puberty involves
distinctive physiological changes in
an individual's height, weight,
body composition, sex
characteristics, and circulatory
and respiratory systems. These
changes are largely influenced by
hormonal activity.

COGNITIVE
The mental part is
everything that concerns
the mind. It is the thinking
process, it is all things we
are aware or unaware of.
An adolescent does more
complex thinking. This
type of thinking is also
known as formal logical
operations.
They include the ability to:
◦Do abstract thinking. This means thinking
about possibilities.
◦Reason from known principles. This means
forming own new ideas or questions.
◦Consider many points of view. This means to
compare or debate ideas or opinions.
◦Think about the process of thinking. This
means being aware of the act of thought
processes.

process of self-evaluation

EARLY ADOLESCENCE

and feel.
LATE ADOLESCENCE

◦There arises a more stable


sense of identity.

psychologically integrated.

Social development involves
learning the values, knowledge
and skills that enable adolescents
to relate to others effectively and
to contribute in positive ways
to family, school and the
community.
The following addresses
some of the key issues
that can have an impact
on a teen's social
development:
Self-esteem
Self-esteem is how you
feel about yourself.
Peer pressure
they begin to spend more time
with their friends and less time with
their parents. As a result, friends
can influence a child's thinking
and behavior.
Tobacco, drugs and alcohol
Drug abuse is a serious problem that can
lead to serious, even fatal, consequences.
Research suggests that nearly 25 percent
of adolescents (ages 12 to 17) have used
drugs, with 16 to 18 as the peak age for
drinking and drug abuse.
Depression and suicide
There are many reasons why teenagers
become unhappy. High-stress
environments can lead to depression.
Teens can develop feelings of
worthlessness and inadequacy over
school performance, social interaction,
sexual orientation or family life.

Believe in the

Recognize your
worth as God’s
Child.
Believe that “all
things work together
for good”
Know your true
worth.
Bring out the best in
you.
Let Him have all your
worries and cares.
Don’t allow your self-
esteem to be
wounded.
Use your hands for
honest work.
Remember that
faith endures.
See God through
the things He
made.
Believe that God is
good.
Always remember
that you are
chosen by God.
Strengthen your
faith.
Seek God
Have faith in Him.
Pray to Him.
Read God’s
message through
your experience.
Remember that
your life is in God’s
hands.
Know how to
respond to His
message in the
right way.
Do not give up.
