Company Introduction
Seldom India is an Industrial Training platform that partners with top
Professionals and organizations, to offer training.
They envision a future where everyone has access to a world-class
Skill development training. They aim to empower people with training
that will improve their lives, the lives of their families, and the
communities they live in.
Automation
• Automation is the creation of technology and its
application in order to control and monitor the production
and delivery of various goods and services. It performs
tasks that were previously performed by humans.
• It’s Basically, a set of pre-defined jobs, that is executed
systematically and sequentially with the help of Software
and Hardware.
Tools of Automation

• Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)

• Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition(SCADA)

• Human Machine Interface(HMI)

• Variable Frequency Drive (VFD)

Uses of Automation

• Manufacturing.
• Transport.
• Utilities.
• Defense.
• Facilities.
• Operations and lately.
• Information technology.
About PLCs
PLC stands for Programmable Logic Controller.
PLC is an industrial computer that monitors inputs, makes decisions
based on its program and controls outputs to automate a process or
machine.
A PLC is an example of a real time system.
It uses a programmable memory to store the instructions and specific
functions that include On/Off control, timing counting arithmetic and
data handling.

SCADA
SCADA stands for Supervisory Control And Data
Acquisition.
Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition is a control system
architecture that uses computers, networked data
communications and graphical user interfaces for high-level
process supervisory management.
Why SCADA?
• Saves Time and Money
• Less traveling for workers (e.g. helicopter ride)
• Reduces man-power needs
• Increases production efficiency of a company
• Cost effective for power systems
• Saves energy
• Reliable
• Supervisory control over a particular system
SCADA Software
• Allen Bradley- Rs view32
• Siemens- wincc
• Modicon- CITECH
• GE Fanuc- CIMPLICITY
• Wonder ware- In Touch
Features of SCADA
 1) Dynamic Process Graphics.
 2) Trend(Real and Historical).
 3) Alarms.
 4) Database Connectivity.
 5) Report Generation.
 6) Recipe Management.
 7) Security.
 8) Script.
 9) Networking.
 10) Device Connectivity.
Script
• Script is a way of
writing logic in
SCADA software.
Every SCADA
software has its own
instructions and
way of writing
program.
• Using scripts, one
can develop
complex
applications.
Security
 Every SCADA software has various
levels of security for securing the
application by avoiding unauthorized
access
 Depending upon the access level
given the operator/engineers
is allowed to do the task. In most of
the cases, operators are allowed only
to operate the plant while
maintenance engineers can do the
application modifications
 The security can be given for
individual as well as for groups
Recipe Management
• In many cases we use the same
plant for manufacturing different
product range. For example an oil
blending plant can manufacture
power oil, transformer oil,
automobile oil.
• The recipe management is facility
used for maintain various recipes of
different products and implement it
on the process
• The recipe can be stored in a single
server and it can be fetched by any
client server from any area to run
the process
