What is paracetamol ??
Definition

 Paracetamol drugs have other names acetaminophen (read: acetaminophen) This


drug is included as an analgesic and antipyretic (fever).
Fungtion

 Paracetamol helps relieve pain, such as headaches, aches / pains in


other limbs and fever or heat.
Type of The Drug

The types of preparations also vary, namely: Tablets Caplet Capsule Soluble
tablet (dissolved in water, then drunk) Oral Suspension (SIRUP).

Paracetamol is used as an analgesic and can be used as a painkiller of all kinds such
as headache, toothache, postoperative pain, cold-related pain, post-traumatic muscle
pain, etc.

Migraine headaches, dysmenorrhea and joint pain can also be alleviated with this
paracetamol drug.
Contraindications

 Contraindications Paracetamol drugs should not be used in people with the


following conditions: Allergic paracetamol or acetaminophen Impaired liver
function and liver disease Serious Kidney Function Disorders, Shock Overdose

Dose of Paracetamol For Adults

Paracetamol Dose Adult for Fever and Pain:


1. General guidelines: 325-650 mg taken every 4 to 6 hours or 1000 mg every 6 to
8 hours.
2. Most commonly Paracetamol 500mg tablet: 500 mg oral tablet every 4 to 6
hours
Dose for Child

Paracetamol Dose Child for Fever and Pain:


1. < 1 month: 10-15 mg / dose every 6 to 8 hours as needed.
2. 1 month-12 years: 10-15 mg / dose every 4 to 6 hours as needed.
3. 12 - 21 years : 325 to 650 mg every 4 to 6 hours, or 1000 mg every 6 to 8 hours.
Side Effects

Although paracetamol side effects are rare, but if it does then it is marked with: Rash
or swelling - this could be a sign of an allergic reaction Hypotension (low blood
pressure) when administered in hospital with infusion. Liver and kidney damage,
when taken at higher doses.

Look for emergency medical help if you have any of the signs of a paracetamol
allergy reaction such as: itching; Difficulty breathing; Swelling of the face, lips,
tongue, or throat.
How to Use

 Use paracetamol exactly as directed on the label, or as prescribed by your doctor.


You can take paracetamol before or after food.
 Take this product by mouth as directed. Follow all directions on the product
package. If you are uncertain about any of the information, consult your doctor or
pharmacist.
