 What is gsmThresh3a?

gsmThresh3a is the Threshold for Event 3a for GSM, Range is valid for GSM Carrier RSSI
During the gap created by CM, UE was required to measure the SS for all GSM neighbor cells and decode BSICs for 8 strongest
Cells, during One gap, UE can measure 2 GSM carriers. If a cell is BSIC decoded and the criteria for event 3a is fulfilled the UE will
send a measurement report indicating the number in the neighbour list for the cell fulfilling the criteria.

 Conclusion
• Purpose of the trial was enhancing UMTS Coverage without degrading user
Perception, considering Rscp, Ecno and MOS measurements.
• Rscp 93% Considerable range in increased coverage area.
• Ecno 91% Considerable range in increased coverage area.
• There were 41% Reduction in IRAT Attempts, improving customer perception
by retaining in UMTS Network.
• There is 50% improvement in Drop due to IRAT Failure.
• There is significant improvement in MOS and specially in good range by 200%
• We can enhance this trial to such dense RNCs areas where we have dense
3G Coverage.
