Pivoting Trade and Investment in Nigeria

Lagos, Nigeria
28 -29 June, 2019.
With its enormous size, Africa only represents a small portion of the
world’s trade with exports largely commodity based and in oil, precious

metals, cocoa, etc. Yet, Africa is growing and its larger economies are
beginning to diversify away from a traditional commodities focus.

Nigeria is west Africa’s unrivalled economic powerhouse.

With a population of over 190 million people and a gross domestic product of over
US$380bn, Nigeria has an investment of $100 Million available at its deposal from
investing partner to aid the growth of Nigeria’s small and medium enterprise.
With over 40% adoption rate in the use of technology and social media in driving business
growth, Nigeria presents the best investment destination in Africa with its enormous natural

and human resources.
While the proliferation of technology has witnessed increased remarkable growth in
Africa, the prevailing point of view from experts in business and trade suggests that
platforms where investors and entrepreneurs can converge and form strategic alliances
are either few or almost none existent in sub-Saharan Africa.

Government and non-governmental Agencies have key roles to play in

the development of trade and investment. Needless to emphasis the
importance of Public-Private Partnerships in driving the growth of
investment, trade and enterprise and as a solution for the diversification
of the economy in terms of boosting manufacturing output and exports.
