 EMPLOYMENT GROWTH BY INDUSTRY
From 2013 to 2017, the Services sector remained as
the major source of employment (56 percent)
followed by Agriculture sector at 25 percent and
Industry sector at 18 percent.

The Agriculture sector showed a declining

employment share by an average of -1.4 percent
during the reference period while the Industry
sector increased each employment share by an
average of 0.6 percent. The services sector had the
highest increase of employment shared by an
average of 0.7 percent.

The Agriculture, Hunting, and Forestry industry had the biggest

employment share in 2017 (9.1 million or 22.5 percent) followed by
Wholesale and Retail Trade (Repair of Motor Vehicles and Motorcycles)
with 19.6 percent (8 million). Aside from this Industries, included in
the top employment generators are Construction (3.5 million or 8.8
percent), Manufacturing (3.4 million or 8.6 percent) and Transportation
and Storage sectors (3.1 million or 7.8 percent).
