Best Practices with New KEMs

• ELM is not supported on old KEMs

• You cannot mix and match old with new KEMs
• Latest device pack will be required: CUCM 10.5.2 or higher
• New KEMs only display one-column-mode, old KEM supports two-
column
• Cisco IP Phone 8851 with KEM x 2 will work on 802.3at PoE only
with v08 or later hardware
New in 11.5(1)SR1 Firmware

New Features

• Record/Monitor in Enhanced Line Mode

• Wireless Scanning for 8861 & 8865
• Configurable Ringtone - 7800/8800
• Receive Video with Shutter Closed
• New Hardware - 8865NR
• FIPS Mode – 7800/8800
8821 Best Practices

• Perform site survey

• Use the latest 8821 firmware
• Adhere to the 8821 design guide
http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cuipph/8821/english/Deployment/8821_wlandg.pdf

• Evaluate the latest infrastructure firmware (APs and WLC)

WLC Field Notice: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/field-notices/642/fn64274.html

• Use 8821 dock to provision over wired network

Converting DX Android Firmware to CE 8.3.1
• Important notes about cmterm-synergy-ce8_3_1_no_defaults.cop.sgn
- The “no defaults” means it will not populate the DX firmware settings:
UCM -> Device -> Device Settings -> Device Defaults

Intentionally blank

- The reason is to avoid accidental upgrades of Android to CE firmware, so further action is

required to upgrade to CE
- After installation of cmterm-synergy-ce8_3_1_no_defaults.cop.sgn and TFTP restart, you must
manually populate the following strings into either Device Defaults (for bulk upgrade) or the individual
device page of the DX70 or DX80 (for selective upgrade). Then click Save or Apply on endpoint
- DX80 = sipdx80.ce831.190117.loads
- DX70 = sipdx70.ce831.190117.loads
