“Development of the Historic

Tourism in Butuan City as


Perceived by Selected Tourists”
The study sought to answer the
three question:
1. What is the profile of respodents in terms of:
1.1 Geographic
1.1.1 Gender
1.1.2 Tourists Status
1. International
2. Local
3. Balik Bayan
2. What is the assesment of the respondents on the
following needs of Historic tourism in Butuab City in
terms of:
2.1 Communication
2.2 Marketing Strategy
2.3 Safety and Security
2.4 Transportation

3. Is there a significant difference on the development of


historic tourism in Butuan City as perceived by respondents
in terms of their:
3.1 Geographic; and
3.2 Psychographic Profile?
The researchers conducted a survey to selected tourist in
Butuan City. This study attempts to determine the perception
of the respondents on the development of Historic tourism in
Butuan City. Thus, this study is formulated.

Based on the result of the conducted survey:

Graph 1.1 shows the number of respondents in


terms of Gender.It reveals that female gave the
highest percentage which is 60% percent and 40%
percent for male.

Table 2.5 shows that among the indicators the respondents rated the
Safety and Security 3.88 with the verbal description of Often, next
the Marketing Strategy,3.84 which is Often followed by
Communication 3.83 with the verbal description of Often and lasty,
Transportation 3.75 with the verbal description of Often. The over-all
result is 3.80 with the verbal description of Often.

which is international tourist. 55 are local and the
remaining 25 are first year students.

Table 3.2, the ANOVA Results comparing the profile of respondent in terms of
geographic and psychographic.The table shows using α= 0.05 level of significant
that the Fcrit,5.14325 is greater than the Fstat,1.43327 the hyphothesis is
accepted. Therefore there is no significant difference on the development of
historic tourism in Butuan City as perceived by respondents.This implies that
geographic and psychographic is not a differentiating variable.
CONCLUSION:
The researchers concluded that in the Profile of
Respondents in terms of Geographic and Psychographic are
not a differentiating factor when it comes to determining the
perception on the Development of Historic Tourism.
In terms of gender, sixty percent of the total 30
respondents are females and the rest are males. The
researchers found out that the female population has a
higher level of perception compare to male, based on their
answers in survey form and through showing of interest
regarding on the Development of Historic Tourism.
RECOMMENDATION:
Based on the conclusions of the study, the following recommendations are
given:
For the Institution
Based on the result it is recommended that they must be more up-to-date
when it comes to informing students regarding development of historic tourism
rather than limiting student’s knowledge on the given existing curriculum.
Conducting of more Historic Tourism-related symposiums and forum will do, as
well as encouraging not only the graduating students rather all Hotel and
Restaurant Management department to get involved.
For the Hotel and Restaurant Students
Regarding on what year level, based on the result every student must have an
initiative to be aware of what’s happening in their community, and their country
and in the world.
For the Future Researchers
The same study may be conducted considering other variables which were not
used by the researchers, based on the result.
HYPOTHESIS
Statement 1 and 2 are hypothesis-free. It is in statement 3
that the following hypothesis are formulated and to be
tested at α=0.05
Ho: There is no significant difference on the respondents
perception on the development of Historic Tourism in
Butuan City as percieved by the selected Tourists in terms
of geographic and psychographic profile.
Ha: There is a significant difference on the respondents
perception on the development of Historic Tourism in
Butuan City as perceived by the selected Tourists in terms
of geographic and psychographic profile.
