TOPIC: AGRICULTURAL SECTOR.

Agriculture constitutes the largest sector

of our economy. It contributes about 24
percent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP)
and provides half of employ labour force
and is the largest source of foreign
exchange earrings. Pakistan major crops
are wheat, maize, rice, sugarcane and
cotton. Planner and policy maker
knowing the sector`s important, makes
sure to have reliable area and production
statistic of agriculture crops well in time.
INDICATOR: AREA AND
PRODUCTION OF IMPORTANT
CROPS.

CROP PRODUCTION:
Crops production depends on the
consumption patterns. It also has a great
affect on agriculture commodity prices .The
importance of crop production is related to
harvested areas, returns per hectares (yields)
and quantities produce .The actual yield that
is captured on farm depends on several
sectors such as crop genetic potential, the
amount of sunlight, water and nutrition
absorbed by the crop, the patterns of yields
and peps .Crop production is measured in
tons per hectares, in 1000 hectares and 1000
tonnes.

CROP AREA:

Cropping area is defined as trends in the share of the utilize agriculture area
occupied by the main agricultural land covered type (arable land and land
under permanent crops).It means the area covered by cultivated crop in
hectares.
This indicator is for 5 major crops of Pakistan that are mentioned above.
