CRT

A cathode ray tube (CRT) is a specialized

vacuum tube in which images are produced
when an electron beam strikes
aphosphorescent surface.

LCD
Liquid crystal display technology works by
blocking light. Specifically, an LCD is made of
two pieces of polarized glass (also called
substrate) that contain a liquid crystal material
between them.

It uses a cold cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFL)

as its backlight

PS/2 is a type of port used by older

computers for connecting input devices
such as keyboards and mice.
The port was introduced with IBM's
Personal System/2 computer in
1987 (which was abbreviated "PS/2").

USB stands for "Universal Serial Bus."

USB is also faster than older ports, such as
serial and parallel ports.

MONITOR INKJET PRINTERS
KEYBOARD An inkjet printer is a computer peripheral that produces
hard copy by spraying ink onto paper.

AVR
In the inkjet printing mechanism, the print head has several
tiny nozzles, also called jets. As the paper moves past the
SYSTEM UNIT print head, the nozzles spray ink onto it, forming the
characters and images.

MONITOR LASER PRINTERS
KEYBOARD A laser printer is a popular type of personal computer printer that
uses a non-impact (keys don't strike the paper), photocopier technology.
MOUSE When a document is sent to the printer, a laser beam "draws" the
document on a selenium-coated drum using electrical charges. After the
AVR drum is charged, it is rolled in toner, a dry powder type of ink. The toner
adheres to the charged image on the drum. The toner is transferred onto
SYSTEM UNIT a piece of paper and fused to the paper with heat and pressure. After the
document is printed, the electrical charge is removed from the drum and
the excess toner is collected.

MONITOR dot-matrix printer
KEYBOARD A type of printer that produces characters and illustrations
by striking pins against an ink ribbon to print closely
MOUSE spaced dots in the appropriate shape. Dot-matrix printers
are relatively expensive and do not produce high-quality
AVR
output.
SYSTEM UNIT However, they can print to multi-page forms (that is,
carbon copies), something laser and ink-jet printers
cannot do.
