Llama • Warm Up Expectations • Packets • PBIS College Rewards/Candyland • IXL/iReady • Pencil Sharpening • Cell Phones • Trash • Emergency Drills • Seating Enter/Exit Procedure: • You will enter through the Front Door and Exit through the back door. This creates a nice flow of traffic and will minimize bumping into other students. • The doors are labeled “Enter” and “Exit” on the inside of the classroom for students to refer to. • The “Exit” door will remain locked and closed at all times. The “Enter” door will remain locked, but students can push the door and it will open. Doors remain locked for student safety. Warm Up Procedure: • When you enter the classroom, you should immediately read the board and follow Warm Up directions. During the warm up time, Example: students are typically taking out homework, working spiral review questions, and gathering any additional materials for the day. • During this time, the teacher will check homework and take attendance. • After 5 minutes, the timer will go off signaling the warm up time period is over. PBIS College Rewards and Candyland Class Reward: • Students will earn college points for positive behavior! Students will be able to redeem in the classroom for rewards such as candy, homework pass, bonus points on quiz, or bonus points on test.
• If the class has a productive period with
minimal disruptions, they will be able to pull a Candyland card and move on the Candyland game board. When the class makes it to Candyland, they will pick a class reward- such as free seating, recess time, or technology time. Pencil Sharpening: • There are 2 electric pencil sharpeners students can use in the classroom. They are located on the counter by the two doors. Please do not use the pencil sharpener attached to the wall in the back of the room.
• Please use pencil during math class everyday! Speak
to Ms. Rankin if you need a pencil. Trash: • There are 3 trashcans in the classroom. • By Front Door • By Back Door • By Ms. Rankin’s Desk • Please throw trash in the trashcan that is the closest to you. • Please do not throw trash in the green recycling bin. This is for paper recycling only. Assigned Seats: • You will be getting an assigned seat that you are expected to sit in each day. • Please speak to Ms. Rankin if you wish to sit in a specific area. These requests will be met as best as possible. Noise Levels/ Listening Llama: Unit Packets: • Each Unit, students will be given a packet of resources. This contains GSE Standards, Essential Questions, Vocabulary Words, Notes, Homework, Activities, and your Study Guide. • Students who hold on to the Unit Packet for the entire unit will earn bonus points on the unit assessment. • We may skip pages in the packet at times. You may complete these pages as an extra practice study resource. IXL Math/ iReady Math: • 6th Graders: You will be expected to pass at least 1 iReady Lesson a week (This number is subject to change). Time will be given in WINN class one day a week and during Math class to work on iReady lessons. If student does not complete this during school, student should complete it at home. This counts as a “progress monitoring” grade.
• IXL: Each student will be given a username and
password to use for Math practice. IXL Topics will be shared with students at the beginning of each unit. Cell Phone Procedure: • Students will place cell phone in their assigned number cubby upon entering the classroom. Students are not allowed to use their cell phone during math class unless given special permission. • Students will retrieve their cell phone from the cubby when given their two minute warning before the end of the class. • Students are not to touch other student’s cell phones under any circumstance. Emergency Drill Procedures: • Fire Drill: Silently line up along the counter by the “enter” door. • Tornado/Shelter Drill: Students will take duck and cover position under desk. • Soft lockdown: Students will remain in classroom at all times, but math class will continue. • Hard Lockdown: Students will silently move into Science Kitchen and Closet area. Students will remain absolutely silent and hidden during this time. Split List: • In the event of Ms. Rankin being absent from school and a substitute being unable to cover her class, students will follow the posted split list on the door. • Students must report to the teacher next to their name otherwise he/she will be marked absent. • Students will complete the assignment outside of the classroom. Please do not interrupt the class you are in. You are a guest and a reflection of our class. Please be on your best behavior.
