ODU-Flex: Uses a 1.25Gb/s “building block”
Item Description
What is it? -Flexible rate ODU container to match client signals with rates not
close to that of standard ODUk containers
-- Restrict to one wavelength; VCAT free
Type of ODU LO-ODU
Primary Transparent Mapping CBR Clients
application(s) Packet traffic
Format Identical to a standard ODUk.
PM, TCM1-TCM6, GCC1/GCC2 all present.
Rate (a) Discrete Rate: Based on client signal rate (b) Continuous rate
Muxes into ODU4
Documentation G.709 v3
Support in INFN Will be supported in DTN-X

GMP (Generic Mapping Procedure) Status
Item Description
Description • Generic mapping Procedure between client/server layers.
• Single mapping mechanism independent of rates for client/server layers
• Avoids specification of FS (fixed stuff cols) info for every (client, server)
combination
• Publish the algorithm and parameters, as opposed to the output
Application(s) • Client signal -> ODU (all new mappings)
• LO-ODU -> HI-ODU (e.g. ODU2e > ODU4)
• HI-ODU -> HI-ODU
Documentation In G.709 V3
Support in INFN DTN-X architecture is agnostic; requires support in TIMs for mapping mode.
