How to use fire extingusher

38
Fire sprinkler system

• Sprinklers respond
to a fire while it is
still small,
preventing the fire
from developing
into a major
threat.

39
Sprinkler System Components
– Sprinklers
– System piping
– A dependable water source
– Most systems also require an
alarm and system control
valves

40
Sprinkler Head Components
• a frame,
• thermal operated
linkage
• cap,
• orifice,
• deflector

41
Sprinkler Head Components
• Frame
– The frame provides the main
structural component which holds
the sprinkler together.
– The water supply pipe connects to
the sprinkler at the base of the
frame
– The frame holds the thermal
linkage and cap in place, and
supports the deflector during
discharge
Sprinkler Head Components
• Thermal linkage
– The thermal linkage is the component
which controls water release
– Under normal conditions the linkage
holds the cap in place and prevents
water flow
– Common linkage styles include
soldered metal levers, frangible glass
bulbs, and solder pellets
Sprinkler Head Components
• Cap
– The cap provides the water tight seal
which is located over the sprinkler
orifice.
– This component is held in place by
the thermal linkage
– Operation of the linkage causes the
cap to fall from position and permit
water flow
Sprinkler Head Components
• Orifice
– A machined opening at the base of the sprinkler frame
– It is from this opening which extinguishing water flows
• Deflector
– The deflector is mounted on the frame opposite the orifice
– The purpose of this component is to break up the water
stream discharging from the orifice into a more efficient
extinguishing pattern
– Deflector styles determine how the sprinkler is mounted
Types of Sprinkler Heads
• Common sprinkler mounting styles include

Upright Pendent

Sidewall
Working principle

Fire pump

• A fire pump is a part of a

fire sprinkler system's water
supply and powered by
electric, diesel or steam.
The pump intake is either
connected to the public
underground water supply
piping, or a static water
source (e.g., tank, reservoir,
lake). The pump provides
water flow at a higher
pressure to the sprinkler
system risers and hose
standpipes

51
Fire door
• A fire door is a door
with a fire-resistance
rating used as part of a
passive fire protection
system to reduce the
spread of fire and
smoke between
separate compartments
of a structure and to
enable safe egress from
a building

52
fire hose
• A fire hose a high-
pressure hose that
carries water or other
fire retardant to a fire to
extinguish it. Outdoors,
it attaches either to a
fire engine or a fire
hydrant. Indoors, it can
permanently attach to a
building's standpipe or
plumbing system.

53
54
Problem 1: Bearing house got too
much tighten in gear box of slitting
machine
• Analysis: Due to sudden
cooling after gas welding
the area of bearing house
get decreased. As a result,
bearing couldn’t move
smoothly and it broke.
• Solution: The area of
bearing house has been
increased by scraping
with cutting tool and a
new bearing replaced
the old one.
55
Problem 2: Leakage of steam in
pneumatic control valve
• Analysis: This valve was
not closed completely
as a result steam was
leaking out. The rubber
seal alignment
displaced.
• Solution: Changed the
rubber seal inside the
valve and fixed it in line
using thread tape.
56
Problem 3: Make free all the fire
equipment passing way.
• Analysis: If the fire
equipment are block by
worker other then it is
difficult to use when
necessary.
• Solution : Make confirm
that all the fire
equipment are always
free for use

57
Problem 4: Arrange regular fire safety
and firefighting training.
• Analysis: It is difficult to
make worker safe from
fire without basic
training.
• Solution: Make confirm
100% work are known
the basic rules for fire
safety and at least 6%
worker are train as a
fire fighter.

58
Problem 5: maintain check list.

• Analysis: without
maintaining check list it
is impossible to make
the factory and people
safe from fire.
• Solution: maintain the
checklist regularly .

59
Recommendation
 Some old machines which consume more electricity and prone to
accident. This machine should be replaced by new machine.

 Authority should apply for higher speed gas line and increase the
dimension of gas pipe line to 12 inches instead of 4 inches.

 There is not enough space to store the finished goods. Store area
might be increased.

 Ear muff should use regularly in generator room.

 Workers and operators didn’t use safety items properly and

regularly. Authority Should apply safety rules strictly.
