*Math – We will begin our new unit on place value. We
will be writing numbers in expanded, standard, and word form.
We will also be comparing numbers. We will have a test on
this unit on Friday, August 30th.
* Reading –We will begin completing a ReadWorks
passage on the computer this week. We will do 6 of these per
nine weeks. We will also be taking the Reading Plus
Placement test.
We will continue our Read Aloud Wonder. We will be
discussing Theme, characters, setting, and plot.
* Writing/ELA – We will write our first prompt for a
grade. We will go through the writing process with this
prompt. . In grammar we will be reviewing the subjects and
predicates and what makes a complete sentence. We will also
continue our Vocabulary Unit Week three.
* Social Studies – We will continue learning about some
economics vocabulary.
* Science – We will begin our Ecosystems unit. Our test
will be on Friday, September 6th. Students will be given a study
guide.
• We are really working hard in the
classroom.
• This week you will see graded work in
your child’s Thursday folder. Please only
return the green sheet signed. You may
keep the work for your review.
• Please return Thursday folders as soon as
possible.
• Please sign Map in a Month page, so I can
check it off. Work on this nightly!
Math: 30 minutes for the entire week of
Khan Academy on assigned topic. Math
test on Friday, August 30th.
Vocab: Look over vocabulary words for the
week. Students will need to take home
their Vocabulary spirals to study nightly.
Words are also posted on the blog.
Vocabulary Quiz tomorrow – Friday,
August 16th on Week 1 & 2 words!
READ! Students should be reading 10-20
minutes nightly.
