 It is a mechanical device.

 It converts the chemical energy of fuel into
mechanical energy .
 Its function is to transfer the energy to crankshaft
by connecting rod.

 These two valves are open and closed alternately

fuel in engine cylinder.
 Outlet valve-its function is to passes the burnt
gases in to atmosphere
