Whoever wins, we lose

Public Transportation & The City
Transportation is such a big demand for a city. As majority of
the citizen do not own private jets, or private cars, creating a
system that works efficiently and on time is a main necessity
to achieve.

Singapore Paris London

In these examples of cities, citizen don’t need to own a private

car to mobile, even if they can afford it.

Public Transportation in Jakarta
• What do you think about Public
Transportation in Jakarta?
It is improving. It is not perfect but I think
it is going in the right direction, especially
Transjakarta Bus and Commuter Train. I
used to drive everywhere, but now I take
public transportation (mostly bus) daily.
It's a sign that it has become more
comfortable and reliable.

• What is already good? And what is

needed to be improved?
Transjakarta has reached a wider area of
the city and improved its reliability by Farid Mardhiyanto,

Public Transportation in Jakarta
Are they integrated?
Several things that can be improved:
• 1. Sterilization of the busway. This is urgent because by doing so, it creates an
awareness that taking public buses should cut your mobility duration.
• 2. The condition of some bus stops during rush hour. Several bus stops are too
congested (during rush hour) that it becomes inconvenient for the passengers
to get on and off the bus.
• 3. Convenient sidewalks. I believe pedestrians are the ones who take public
transportation, so, proper sidewalks around the bus stops are non-negotiable.
• 4. Connection with other public transportation. People should be able to move
easily to connect to trains or smaller buses. Also, the facilities like adding zebra
crossings, disabled-friendly paths, and more gates.

The plan of closing Corridor 1 of BRT caused by
the different interests of two different
transportation providers that are not prioritizing
the public interest.
