ABSTRACT

 Using the concept of picosatellites which usually weighs around (0.1-1Kg), the student
satellites could be used in low earth orbits for the research and the space exploration
purposes.
 The entire concept of this project is all about reducing the weight, size of the satellite by
designing an AMATEUR BAND SATELLITE ANTENNA for these kind of STUDENT
SATELLITES and making the satellite a cost efficient one and also to get it operated at the
bands of amateur satellite communication such as 434.8-438(70cm band) with the
overviewed concept of half wave dipole patch method for designing the antenna using
specific patterns which could be suitably and preferably used in TTC(Tracking, Telemetry
and Command) by calculating the specific antenna parameters using the vector network
analyzer software.
INTRODUCTION

 Satellites are classified based on some specific characteristics such as their mass, ranging
from picosatellites (0.1–1 kg) to large satellites (>1000 Kg).

 CubeSats commonly work at bands of amateur satellite communication purposes such as

434.8–438 (70-centimeter band), 1260–1270, and 2400–2450 MHz bands.

 Printed antennas for small satellites have some advantages in such case.

 Hence we print antennas in different patch designs and observe the antenna parameter values
and choose the efficient patch pattern .

 Antenna configurations - helices, monopoles, and patches.
 Band used - amateur satellite communication
 Operating Frequency - 434.8–438 (70-centimeter band), and
2400–2450 MHz bands
 Substrate used - printed-circuit-board (PCB)
 Necessity - optimize space ,acceptable performance,

subsystems.
SOCIAL RELAVANCE

 Can be used in low earth orbit.

 Used in communication ,research, geographical survey, weather assistance,

monitoring of pollution, maritime radio navigation.

 Particularly ,students in research areas are benefitted.

PRODUCT MARKETING

 Generally, a cost ranging from US 100 million to US 2 billion .

 But our product is cost efficient and will meet the high demands of the students.
ADVANTAGES

 Utilization of small satellites considerably reduces mission cost and development

time, and thus facilitates the access to space.

 Enable high level of functionality in a small volume with low mass and power.

 Nominal polarization in all the operation modes is circular.
