Legal document between the supplier and the customer
• describes’ the sold goods,
• the amount due on the customer

Normally prepared by sellers, and should include the following information:


• Date, names, and commercial addresses of the seller and the buyer.
• Precise denomination and quantity of goods.
The commercial invoice on itself does not grant any ownership of the goods, unless it has an attached document
proving the importer’s payment for the total amount

IE-CODE
Import Export (IE) Code is a registration required for persons importing or exporting goods
and services from India. IE Code is issued by the (DGFT)

Importers Require IE Code: The IE Code must be quoted while clearing customs. Also,
banks require the importers IE Code while sending money abroad.

Exporters Require IE Code :The IE Code must be quoted while sending shipments.
And banks require the exporters IE Code while receiving money from abroad.
PURCHASE ORDER
A purchase order is the official confirmation of an order. It is a document sent from a
purchaser to a vendor that authorizes a purchase

Purchase orders are used for several reasons:


• They set clear expectations
• They help manage orders
• They help with budgeting
• They are legally binding
• They are a key part of audit trails
PACKING LIST
A packing list is a document used for customs declaration that identifies the quantity, weight,
dimensions, and carton count of the shipped products.

The packing list should include all the following information:


• Product description;
• A reference to the relevant commercial invoice number and/or item number;
• The type of package(s), e.g. box, carton, vials, etc.;
• The net and gross weights
• The legal measurements expressed in inches and cubic feet Package markings; and
• Buyer and seller references

EXPORT HOUSE CERTIFICATE


An applicant would be eligible for and be categorized upon reaching certain minimum export
performance in the current and previous two financial years

Privileges:
A Status Holder is eligible for privileges as under:
• Exemption from furnishing of Bank Guarantee in Schemes under Foreign Trade Policy
• Status Holders of specified sectors are eligible for additional duty credit @ 1% of
FOB value of exports from 01.04.09 - 31.03.10.
EEPC – REGISTRATION CUM MEMBERSHIP CERTIFICATE
Why RCMC is required?
Any person, applying for
(i) a license/certificate/permission to import/export, [except items listed as restricted
items in ITC9HS)]
(ii) any other benefit or concession under this policy shall be required to furnish
Registration-cum-Membership Certificate (RCMC) granted by the competent authority
in accordance with the procedure

Annual membership subscription is charged according to export of engineering goods/services made by the
firm/company during the year prior to the immediate preceding year as detailed in the following table
SHIPPING BILL
A shipping bill is issued by the shipping agent and represents some kind of certificate for all
parties, included ship's owner, seller, buyer and some other parties.

 It is an important document, required by the customs authorities for clearance of goods. The
customs authorities endorse the duplicate copy of the shipping bill with "Let Export Order" and "Let
Ship Order“.
 After the clearance or customs, exporter can load the goods on ship.
 Shipping bill endorsed by the customs authorities facilitates the exporter to claim incentives such as
excise duty refund and duty drawback

AIRWAY BILL
Airway Bill is issued and signed by the airways company. They are made out in the name of the
buyers or bankers of the buyers. The issuance date of the airway bill (AVM) is considered to be
the date of shipment.
Purposes Airway Bill serves the following:
 A receipt, acknowledging consignment of goods from the shipper.
 An evidence of the contract of carriage.
 A contract between the shipper and the airline for moving the goods to the destination.
