BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

▫ Mathematics is the application of quantity, structure
and space. Its focus is to find for absolutes and
definitive solutions and answers.
▫ The importance of mathematics is it sharpens and
establishes the ability of presenting hypotheses,
analyzing data, recognizing patterns, seeking evidence,
conclusions and proof, and solving problems, while
being open to new information.

▫ Performance in mathematics affect by perception
(Mata, Monteiro, & Reixoto, 2012; Silao, 2018; Gafoor
& Kurukkan, 2015).
▫ Teacher-Student Relationship (Mansah, Okyere, &

2011; Lee, 2012).
▫ Teaching Strategies (Gill, 2013; Bohren, 2019).

following factors: study habits, parental support, interest,
self-efficacy, math anxiety, teaching strategy, proficiency,
medium of teaching, and teacher-student relationship.
