MATTHEW 7:13-14
13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the
gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to
destruction, and many there be which go in
thereat:
14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the
way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be
that find it.

- also called the narrow door
broad road
- leads to destruction (hell)
John 14:6
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth,
and the life: no man cometh unto the Father,
but by me.
Strait
- Grk. “Stenos”
- means narrow and obstacles standing closed
Gate
- Grk. “Pule”
- a large door which gives entrance into a walled city, a castle a temple,
palace or other large edifice. It signifies the opening or a passage.
John 10:1-7
1 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by
the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some
other way, the same is a thief and a robber.
2 But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd
of the sheep.
3 To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his

leadeth them out.

HOW NARROW IS THE
NARROW GATE?
WHY IS IT HARD TO ENTER INTO
THE NARROW GATE? WORLD IS
HIS CONTROL.
- OPPOSITION OF THE HUMAN PRIDE
- OUR NATURAL LOVE OF SIN
- OPPOSITION OF SATAN AND THE WORLD IS
HIS CONTROL
Philippians 2:12
12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always
obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now
much more in my absence, work out your own
salvation with fear and trembling.
To strive
-means in old Greek is “AGONIZOMAI” from
which we derive the word “AGONY”
-to contend with adversaries; to enter into a
contest.
-To contend with difficulties and in dangers;
to compete for a prize; to endeavor with
strenuous zeal.
 ENTER THE NARROW GATE
1. BELIEVE AND HAVE FAITH THAT THE
LORD JESUS CHRIST IS THE ONLY GOD
AND SAVIOUR. (Colossians 2:9-10)
2. REPENT OF YOUR SINS
3. BE BORN-AGAIN THROUGH WATER
BAPTISM IN JESUS’ NAME (ACTS 2:38)
4. BE HOLY GHOST BAPTIZED WITH AN
INITIAL EVIDENCE OF SPEAKING IN
 ENTER THE NARROW GATE
5. LIVE A HOLY LIFE BOTH INWARD AND
OUTWARD. (2 Cor. 7:1)
6. ALWAYS OBEY GOD’S WILL IN YOUR LIFE.
(Ex. 19:5)
7. BE ACTIVE AND INVOLVED IN CHRISTIAN
ACTIVITIES AND FELLOWSHIP AS A PART
OF YOUR SPIRITUAL GROWTH. (1 Cor.
6:17)
8. SHARE THE GOSPEL, BE A PART OF
EVANGELISM AND MOST OF ALL WIN

The Narrow Way – eternal life
- requires a decision to enter, a thought, a
choice
- lighter burdens
- less distractions, own choice
John 14:1-3
1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God,
believe also in me.
2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it
were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare
a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will
come again, and receive you unto myself; that
where I am, there ye may be also.
