drugs of Chemical, Animal
Sources & Nosodes

1
Standardization of Homoeopathic Drugs
Objective:
1. Preparation of Drugs from Authentic Samples.
2. Provide the required parameters for Quality control and Quality
Assurance.
3. Ensure safety and efficacy.
Challenges:
1. Procurement of authentic sample.
2. Taxonomical identification of the biological species.
3. Biological materials are chemically extremely complex.
4. Handling of hazardous chemicals/biological materials.
Solution:
1. Authentication of the sample.
2. In depth-study with related species.
3. Segregation and proper safety protocols. 2
Ongoing Projects Under Drug Standardization
(Approved by Headquarters)

1. HPI-Revision Work- Plant, Animal, Chemical Origin and Nosodes

2. Annual Assignment - Plant, Animal and Chemical Origin

3. Animal Drugs in EDL List- Exclusively of Animal Origin

Standardization of Nosodes HPI list

Drug Name Comment

Ustilago maydis Edible fungus.
Will be conducted with the
Tuberculinum
assistance of Microbiologist

9
Standardization of Ustilago maydis

1. DS- Section is first time is in the process of carrying out the standardization of nosodes.

2. The fungus is non-pathogenic to human and consumed in Mexico as delicacy

“huitlacoche.

3. The nosode is already reported in HPI.

Proposed Proposal
Development and analysis of homoeopathic drug - A multi-pronged approach

1. Quantum Mechanical Research on Homoeopathic Dilutions- The Silicate Hypothesis.

 Here we will address theoretical understanding of the chemical nature of homoeopathic drugs.
 The work will utilize computational chemistry to understand the stability of the silicates that may form from the
homoeopathic medicines.

2. Authentication, Safety and Efficacy of Commercial mother tinctures- A comparative

physicochemical study.

 Concentration of toxic heavy metals will be measured

 Chemical composition of the drugs will be determined
