 Written works collectively especially those enduring
importance, exhibiting creative imagination and
artistic skill which are written n a particular period,
language, and subject (Funk and Wagnals Dictionary,
1976).
 Any written materials published in book, journal,
magazine, novel, poetry, yearbook, and encyclopedia.
 Examples: Job Satisfaction and Retention (Mylene
Kramer, 2007); Philippine Frogs (Alcalca and Brown,
1989)

 Can broaden the researcher’s knowledge

conduct of the research.

one’s study.
 Can help the researcher in designing his
proposed research.

 Can also provide the researcher insights
on the weaknesses and strengths of
previous studies.
 Can provide findings and conclusions of
past studies, which a researcher can use in
relating to his findings and conclusions.
 Help the researcher in formulating the
theoretical and conceptual framework for his
research problem.

 Go over reading materials you have at home or in
your own library.
 Search for existing literature in your college library or
learning resource center
 Upload your print materials in your Mendeley library
 Examine each reference in your e-library… then
decide which shall be considered/included in your
manuscript.
 Record important details of what you have reviewed
(in the first draft of your manuscript) or highlight or
mark portions of the pdf files for future use.

author, copyright date, publisher, place
of publication, doi, url, etc.
