HOW ABOUT MARRIAGE?

God set the

blueprint of our
marriages.
GENESIS 2:24

"Therefore shall a man leave

his father and his mother, and
shall cleave unto his wife: and
they shall be one flesh."

and be united to his wife, and
the two will become one
flesh'?

for PERFECT MAN AND SINFUL

UNCHANGING STATEMENT.

if followed, will make a good
marriage.
OBSERVATION

Today, there are many

unhappy, unfulfilling marriages
not only among non-Christians
but also among Christians.

LEAVING IS NOT…

- abandoning.
- forsaking.
EXODUS 20:12 (NIV)

Honor your father and your

mother, so that you may live

God is giving you.

for their relatives, and

In our day, many couples

seem to marry with the
thought that if the marriage
does not work out they can
always get separated.
SOME SAY MARRIAGE IS A MATTER
OF…

convenience,
chance, and
very temporary.
MARRIAGE IS NOT A MATTER OF…

blind chance, but deliberate

choice.
convenience, but obedience.
GOD SAYS…

Marriage is a permanent
relationship.

one flesh?
IN SIMPLE TERMS, IT MEANS…

sexual relations or physical

union.
HEBREWS 13:4

Marriage should be honored

by all, and the marriage bed
kept pure, for God will judge
the adulterer and all the
sexually immoral.
WITHIN THE BOUNDS OF MARRIAGE…

sexual relations are holy,

good, and beautiful, but if
they are entered into apart
from “leaving and cleaving”
they are ugly, degrading, and
sinful.
BECOMING ONE FLESH INVOLVES…

more than the marriage act.

It’s just the symbol of a more
complete oneness.
Marriage is a total
commitment and a total
sharing of the total person with
another person until death.
EPHESIANS 5:28

In this same way, husbands

ought to love their wives as
their own bodies. He who
loves his wife loves himself.
PROVERBS 31:12

12Shedoes him good, and not

harm, all the days of her life.
HUSBANDS AND WIVES ARE NO MORE
THAN TWO, BUT ONE FLESH

This one flesh concept must

manifest itself in practical,
tangible, demonstrable ways.
God intends it to be a
concrete reality.
