What isTranformational Grammar?

Transformational grammar is an approach to the use of grammar in

communication that involves a logical and analytical process to fully understand
the meaning behind the words chosen, with a rule for changing other
grammatical structures by adding, subtracting, or rearranging its constituents.

What isFunctional Grammar?

Functional Grammar is the theory of the use of language that focuses on the
analysis of language in the delivery of information, both in oral and written
form. In general, it seeks to explain the natural language arrangement in terms
of its functionality.

In there are three levels of functions that are the main
concern, namely:
Semantic Functions (Actors [Agents], Patients
[Patients], Recipients [Recipients], etc.) FunctionalGrammar
Syntactic Functions (Subjects and Objects).
Pragmatic Function (Theme and Tail [Tail], Topic and
Focus).
