beauty treatment.
 Branches of specialty include hairstyling, skin
care, cosmetics, manicure/pedicure, and
electrology.
 Accdg. to Reyes (1979) in order to help others
become beautiful, a cosmetologist should have
good health and personal hygiene, and be
properly groomed.

 GOOD HEALTH- is required for the successful
practice of cosmetology. Without it, a
cosmetologists cannot work efficiently nor enjoy
the pleasures of life.
 PERSONAL HYGIENE- is concerned with
intelligent care given by the individual to one’s
health by following the rules and healthful living
such as cleanliness, correct posture, exercise,
relaxation, adequate sleep, balance diet, and
wholesome thoughts
 GROOMING- is shown in one’s personal
appearance. It includes personal hygiene,
suitable or appropriate attire and neatness.

 Personal grooming is important for a positive
self-image and every effort should be made to
encourage and assist the resident to maintain a
pleasing and attractive appearance.
 Professional Grooming appearance of a person
to gain positive impression and respect in the
workplace.
PERSONAL BODY IMAGE
 is the perception that a person has of their
physical self and the thoughts and feelings that
result from that perception.
 It is made up of four aspects:

 1. Perceptual body image: how you see your body.

 2. Affective body image: how you feel about your

body
 3. Cognitive body image: how you think about
your body
 4. Behavioral body image: they way you behave
as a result of your perceptual, affective and
cognitive body image.
