B. Overview of the Cacao Seed Processor
 The Cacao Seed Processor was fabricated with
nichrome filament that serves as the heater.
 Connected to a temperature control that sets desired
temperature of roasting of 240 degrees Farenheight and
relay that turns on and off the heater so that
temperature should be maintained and it is equipped
with a thermostat that sense the actual temperature of
the device.
 It has doors that protect the fan from melting and a
cylinder case that uses door to drop the roasted seeds
to the roller for cracking process.
 The rollers can be adjusted to obtain the desired cracks
of the seed.
 It is driven by series of chain and sprockets for heavy duty
operation and a motor that uses ¾ HP and simultaneously
drives the sieving pan in separating the coat effectively.
 It uses agitator that stirs the cacao seeds when drying and
roasting for efficient heat distribution driven by multiple
pulleys and a motor of ½ hp.
 It is insulated with double walled G.I. sheet inserted by
fibermatt in between for conserving the heat
 It has exhaust fan that controls and regulate the moisture
content with an automatic on and off operation.

 Has a blower fan that suck the coat from the
nibs and blows it away.
 It has a roasting capacity of 5.1 kg/hr of cacao
seeds and has optimum seed recovery of 90%
with a maximum load of 10 kg per operation.
 It has safety features that use fuse and breakers
to maintain the safety of the operator and the
machine.

ADVANTAGE TO MANUAL OPERATION

 10 kilograms of Cacao can be roasted and processed within 2


hours than manual roasting and separation of the coat.

 Drudged of manual Labor can be reduced.

 The device can dry the seeds even in rainy seasons.

 The operation cost is cheap in terms of economy and affordable


than manual processing.
 The device is safe and designed for heavy duty operation.
Conclusions
 The machine was able to process 10 kg of
seeds, has 5.1 kg/hr capacity, 90% machine
efficiency and power consumption of 2.11
kw-hr.

 The fabricated machine is financially and


economically viable.
