INTRODUCTION

As we know on the Sinhgad road and Karve road there is heavy traffic so people are
facing traffic problem day by day. The basic idea for this traffic problem providing
alternatives to these roads.
Civic administration had decided to constuct the road for two wheeler and Four
wheeler not for heavy vehicles along the river side in 2010 but it was opposed by
environmentalists
Hence by constructing a bridge on Mutha river which can connect the other bridges in
the city on the river like Chatrapati Rajaram Bridge, S.M.Joshi Bridge, etc.
We know that at present condition Mutha river is totally polluted and there is no
existance of any species. By conservation of natural habitat we can improve biodiversity.

Traffic Survey

Definition- Traffic survey is a survey undertaken to determine the Volume and nature of
traffic utilizing a particular route. A Traffic survey can be manual or automatic.
Traffic surveys are required to transportation engineers for:
• Planning and designing traffic facilities
• Determining the need for traffic control devices
• Diagnosing given situations and finding appropriate solutions
• Studying the effectiveness of introduced scheme
Peoples Suggestions

• In this survey we will meet the peoples travelling on warje road, karve road and sinhgad road. And
ask what type of problems they ar facing while travelling from Suncity to karve road and Manik
Baugh.
• And also get ideas and suggestions regarding improvement of traffic solutions or travel time from
them.

Alternatives to Sinhgad Road by PMC

• PMC had cnstructed a 2.3 km road from Vitthalwadi to Pune-Mumbai NH-4 along the river side in 2010.
• The 7.5m road will be built at a cost of Rs 20 crore. “Though the road can be users will be two wheelers and
also four wheelers. Heavy vehicles will not be allowed to use the road,” a civic official said. The canal and its
embakment are under the irrigation department’s juridiction.
• However, it ran into rough weather due to objections from environmentalists. The civic administration
decided tear up this road.
Permission and information from NHAI
Accidental Data
Data of River

• Width of river
• Depth of water
• Annual rainfall intensity
• Flood intensity
• Geological condition
Total generation of waste water

Get information about how much waste water added into river from industrial as well as
domestic .
Pune rivers have been degraded overtime due to heavy release of waste water without
treatment in mutha river.
Dead fish pile up on Mutha banks

• The problem of fish dying in large numbers as come to fore of the banks of mula mutha river.
• Fish have been found dead along the banks of the river because of rising river pollution. This was
happened in 2012.
River Cleaning

• Locals are throwing garbage in the Mutha river so PMC has decided to
providing security on bank of the river to avoid this problem. Instead
providing security near river then also locals are thrown garbage in the river.
• So PMC has decided to cast tall nets of size 6 ft on both sides of river so
there is no way the locals can throw garbage into water.
• Bapu Karne and Shivlal Bhosle both are given Rs.39 lakh fund to PMC to
carry out this work.
Upcoming plans of PMC for waste water management

• PMC paying fine for 15 years for polluting river.

• For solid waste management, MNP proposed 11 new STP’s having budget of RS. 990 crore .
• These STP’s have capacity of 396 MLD waste water treatment along with laying 113.6 km of
sewers and construction of 24 community toilets.
• The project is under the National River Conservation Plan (NRCP) in the city.
REQUIRED DATA OF EXISTING BRIDGES ON MUTHA RIVER

• There are total 17 bridges across the Mula-Mutha river but we can connect 14 bridges from Warje
bridge. We can connect these bridges from Warje bridge-Rajaram bridge-S.M. Joshi Bridge.

• Height of bridge

• Width of bridge

• Distance between bridges

Outcomes

• Solution to heavy traffic on Karve road and Sinhgad road.

• Short root for peoples lives in suncity area.
• Achieve rehabitation by soft landscaping.
• Biodiversity can sustain easily in river water.
• Aesthetic value of city is increases.
