Problem Statement
 To build a smart traffic management signal which will
dynamically control the vehicle movement on the desired
routes and also give indication to other vehicles to make
way after spotting an emergency vehicle like ambulance.

Introduction
 The Density Based Signal Management in Traffic System is to
solve traffic congestion problem.
 For that, we have designed a framework for a dynamic and
automatic traffic light control system and developed a
simulation based model with codes in to help build the
system.
 The Road Side Unit (RSU) continuously keeps watching density
on all sides and the Green signal is given to the side on priority
basis.
 Also the system will detect emergency vehicles and clear the
lane in which the vehicle is coming by making green signal ON
for more time.

Motivation
 The increasing traffic of the metropolitian cities like
mumbai, delhi etc is a matter of concern for all.
 To solve this problem and to make sure the availability of
emergency vehicles on right time we are developing this
system.

1 2017 TRADER:Traffic Road traffic congestion is one of the great unsolved problems we face in the 21st century.Road traffic congestion is
Light Phases a major problem faced by many cities that occurs when the traffic demand approaches or exceeds the available
Aware Driving for capacity of the road network. This paper, therefore, proposes a simple yet efficient mechanism named (TRADER:
Reduced Traffic TRaffic Light Phases Aware Driving for REduced tRaffic Congestion) in order to reduce the overall vehicles’
Congestion in travel time in smart cities. TRADER has been implemented and extensively evaluated under several scenarios using
Smart Cities SUMO and TraCI. The obtained simulation results, using a set of typical road networks, have demonstrated the
effectiveness of TRADER in terms of the significant reduction of travel time, up to 31.44% in a random road
network topology. The aim of this paper is to investigate the efficiency of V2X
communication technologies in reducing travel time in smart
cities.

2 2015 Smart Traffic Congestion is a relentless problem in many

Autonomous modern cities around the world. Traffic lights which are of
Traffic Light current technology use manual operating system for the time
Switching by allocation and also require high maintenance during the
Traffic Density operation. In order to reduce the time and complexity, a system that has to
Measurement be combine the existing technology with artificial intelligence to think themselves. This newly developed project
through Sensors will enable the traffic light to switch from red to green based on traffic density. This paper is concerned with the
development and implementation of Sensor based Traffic Light System with Dynamic Control which in turn
reduces the Average Trip Waiting Time (ATWT). It consists of IR sensors, Low Power embedded controllers,
comparators and storage device.

3 2016 Smart Traffic Light Nowadays, many countries suffer from the traffic
Control System congestion problems that affect the transportation system in
cities and cause serious dilemma. In spite of replacing traffic
officers and flagmen by automatic traffic systems, the
optimization of the heavy traffic jam is still a major issue to be faced, especially with mUltiple junction
nodes.Conventional systems do not handle variable flows approaching the junctions. In addition, the mutual interference
between adjacent traffic light systems, the disparity of cars flow with time, the accidents, the passage of emergency
vehicles, and the pedestrian crossing are not implemented in the existing traffic system. This leads to traffic jam and
congestion. We propose a system based on PIC microcontroller that evaluates the traffic density usingIR sensors and
accomplishes dynamic timing slots with different levels. Moreover, a portable controller device is designed to solve the
problem of emergency vehicles stuck in the overcrowded roads.

4 2016 Traffic Congestion For the past decade India facing terrible road congestion
Alerting System problems in its cities. Transportation becomes need for de-
velopment. The rising number of transport services day by
day is creating problems in travelling. As traffic congestion creates negative impact on society, traffic controlling is the
important necessity in transportation. Traffic management requires technology based solutions instead of the manual
methods such as human intervention viz. Traffic policemen, traffic lights and safety cameras. Traffic jamming cause
commuter fails to reach the destination in time. Analyzing the road traffic data is the step taken towards establishment of
traffic circumstances on any given road segment. Also existing vehicle does not have the system to alert traffic congestion
before we choose road to reach destination. We design smart device embedded in vehicle. Our systems employ the traffic
sensing and updating the user to choose the shortest path having less traffic congestion. The proposed system smartly
alerts the traffic congestion on the path one has to travel. This system also helps us for fuel level indication.

5 2015 Smarter traffic The paper presents urban traffic control method
control for middle- suitable and tested for a small urban areas enabling more fluenttraffic and thus increasing the throughput of the controlled
sized cities area. The model is implemented in the adaptive Traffic Dependent Control module for higher control of the area designed
using adaptive for the optimization of the intersection signal plans, providing the bestimprovements for intersections with irregular
algorithm traffic. The goal of the higher algorithm design was to create module for interlacing the technological-telematic components
in a new application for city control with the system ElsArea .Proposed module enables to control an intersection (or
group of intersections) by a simple input depending on the traffic situation in traffic dependent or in adaptive modification
of parameters from higher level to intersection points.

Objectives
 To Reduce the Traffic congestion caused due to uneven
traffic.
 To make the traffic light on and off based on the load of
the traffic.
 Detect emergency vehicles and make way for them.
 Provide ease to the people travelling on highway.

Applications
 This system will ensure smooth flow of traffic, thus
avoiding severe traffic jams.
 Unlike the traditional system, this will work dynamically
rather than working on the time slots allocated.
 Preference will be given to emergency vehicles like
ambulance so that it may reach its destination on time,
thus saving lives.
 Smart signals will play a key role in the development of
cities into smart cities.
 Since this is a dynamic signal, it will help save a lot of time.

Conclusion
 Smart signal project is very beneficial to people.
 In this project high density of traffic will allow traffic with
long timing assigned low density of traffic will allow
traffic with short timing assigned.
 Sensor detect density of vehicle and Emergency vehicle
and set time.
