Pollution is the result of progression and development that

is occurring on a regular basis.

With the growth of technology more and more
development is taking place in order to improve the quality
of human life .
But the unfortunate thing is that this development if often
accompanied with destruction in environment.
This series is certainly giving high level of comfort and a
rich lifestyle to all human but is sadly diminishing the worth
of human health , the need to have a good and a healthy
environment is ignored,
Many new inventions and introductions are
causing a danger to human life as they are done
artificially.
This artificial and unsystematic way of generating
high level of comfort is producing components that
are inevitable to human life.
Be it anything including the basic needs of life like
clothing and even food is now being produced
synthetically.
If we study more about the ecology , we will realize
that the increasing need of the present day lifestyle
is eventually creating an imbalance in an ecology.
Some most common types of pollutions are as
follows:
Noise pollution
 Noise means unwanted sound.
 What is pleasant to some ears may be extremely
unpleasant to other depending on a number of
psychological factors.
 Most of the people do not consider noise as pollution but
as a part of routine life.
 To curb the noise pollution people should realise the
danger of noise pollution.
Sources Of Noise Pollution
 Motor vehicle is the dominant
source of noise pollution ,
producing about 90% of all
unwanted noise worldwide.
 Natural sources of noise
pollution i.e air,noise, valcanos,
seas,rivers, exchanging voice of
living organ including man and
mammals.
Effects Of Noise Pollution
 Hearing Problems: Any unwanted sound that our ears have
not been built to filter can cause problems within the body.
 Health Issues: aggressive behavior, disturbance of sleep,
constant stress, fatigue and hypertension can be linked to
excessive noise levels.
 Sleeping Disorders
 Cardiovascular Issues: Blood pressure levels, cardiovascular
disease and stress related heart problems are on the rise.
 Trouble Communicating: High decibel noise can put
trouble and may not allow two people to communicate
freely
Water pollution

 Water is essentially required by all kinds of life.

 Not only the human being but each and every living
creature is dependent on water.
 However as water being the best solvent, it is also true
that it may create nuisance when comes in the contact
of pollutant and remains untreated.
 When untreated waste water passes through the
industries , agricultural land it get spoiled and
becomes harmful to plants , animals and humans.
Sources of water pollution

 Domestic commercial waste

 Industrial waste

 Agricultural waste

 Chemical waste

 Thermal waste
Effects of water pollution

• Water pollution causes

harmful effect on the
environment which includes
public health and safety,
plants and animal life, land.
• There are 60% of desease in
India caused due to the
pollution of water.
Air Pollution
• Air is the basic need of human being without
which we cannot survive for a few minutes.
• Tremendous growth of population,
urbanisation, expansion of industries
ventilated the gravity of the effect of air
pollution.
• Air pollution is mainly caused by smoke and
gasesreleased from the factories and vehicle.
• 50% of the air pollution caused by automobiles.
Sources of air pollution

• The combustion of fuel to

produce energy for heating
and power.
• Transportation.
• Industrial and commercial
process.
• Incineration burning of waste
•i.e rubber, plastic
product without
combustion equipment.
• Agricultural activities.
Effects Of Air Pollution
• Air pollution has an adverse
effect on the environmental
and climatic condition, human
health and safety, plants and
animals and other socio-
economic condition.
Nuclear & Radioactive Pollution
• The main source of such pollution are either due to
spreading of radiation at the time of nuclear testing or
leakage from such idustry or spreading radiation by
use of nuclear missiles at the time of war.
• Also the soils and rocks contains radioactive substance
such as uranium and thorium which can be dug outby
mining operation, if water comes in contact with such
rocks and soil then radioactivity imported to such
water causing its pollution.
• Such pollution becomes very harmful to not only the
present generation but future generation also.
Effects Of Nuclear & Radioactive Pollution

• Acute damage: Sudden

death, death after duration of
week, loss of hair, widespred
ulcers, inability to deal with
ever minor infections.
• Chronic damage: Disease of
blood like anaemia, blood
cancer, cancer of skin ane
other organs.
• Genetic damage: Hairless
child, retarded child,
defective senses.
Soil Pollution
• The word soil is derived from the latin word ' Solum '
which means earthly material in which plants, bushes
and grass grows.
• The contamination of soil is known as soil/ land
pollution.
• These days many artificial substances and synthetic
pesticides are used for agriculture.
• Such substance release contaminants that create an
imbalance in the soil and also prevent natural growth of
plants cultivated on polluted land.
Sources Of Soil Pollution

• Industrial waste and scraps.

• Dumping of degradable and
non degradable garbage.
• Unmindfull use of chemical
pesticides.
• Construction of
dams,mining,roads.
• Deforestation.
Green House Gas Effect

 The green house effect is a natural process by which

some of the radiant heat from the sun is captured in
the lower atmosphere of the earth
 The gases that help to capture the heat are greenhouse
gases
 Primary greenhouse gases are water vapour , methane ,
CO2 , nitrous oxide and ozone.
 India emits the 5th most carbon of any country
Effects of Pollution on Environment
 CO2 emission cause ocean acidification.
 The emission of greenhouse gases leads to global
warming.
 Smog and haze can reduce the amount of sunlight
received by plants to carry out photosynthesis.
 Soil can become infertile and unsuitable for plants.
 Sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides can cause acid rain.
How to solve unethical issues relating
to environment
 Reduce over consumption of natural resources and
emission of carbon into atmosphere from vehicle.

 Recycle

 Reuse of recycled materials
