Fractions
A fraction is a number that represent parts of a whole or parts
of a group. The denominator represents the total number of
equal parts the whole is divided into.

Has a value equal to 1, or

Proportion
In a proportion the product of the means is equal to product
of the extremes.
10 : 20 = 5 : 10

Abdullah takes 15 minutes to reach school from his house,
while Ahmed takes one hour to reach school from his house.
Find the ratio of the time taken by Abdulla to the time taken
by Ahmed.
Hint (In this case, the time taken by Abdullah is expressed in ‘minutes’ while
the time taken by Ahmed is expressed in ‘hour’)
