SITE ANALYSIS

Degamo, Ela L.
Lisbos, Reymark M.
OBJECTIVES:
 Identify the prevailing characteristics of an area within which
the site is located;
 Identify the opportunities and constraints in a development
site;
 Identify the relationship of the site to its surroundings and
 Utilize the information gathered to make aware of the
proposed development required by the client, such that
impacts on neighbouring properties and the locality are
minimised.
II.1 BEHAVIORAL ENVIRONMENT (MACRO STUDY)
 Demography
The total population of Barangay Guisao is 1,783 this is according to the year 2007 census. The total
Household population is 296.

 Land Use and Zoning

The project area is classified as an Agricultural Zone. Land uses in the vicinity include residential.

Climate
Zamboanga City has a third type climate. Seasons are not very pronounced but relatively dry from
November to April and wet during the rest of the year. The climatic control in the city is influenced by the
alteration of the wind direction due to the presence of high elevation forested mountains and its geographic
location. The northeast monsoon occurs during the months of June to October.

 Terrain
The overall topography of the city could be described as rolling to very steep. There are some flat
lands, mostly narrow strips along the east coast. In terms of slope, a large portion of Zamboanga City,
about 38,000 hectares, have slopes ranging from 18-30% (Rolling to Moderately Steep).
Slope and Topography of the area covered by the project area is Undulating to Rolling (8-18%).
 Fault System
Along the east shorelines of the city is susceptible to earthquake induced
tsunami.
 Solid Waste Management
Improper handling and disposal wastes. Large percentage of these solid wastes
normally comes from domestic sources and the rest came from industries. Not all
solid waste generated are collected and properly disposed (70%-80%), therefore
some are left scattered in the environment.
 Hydrology
The City is endowed with several rivers that drain to the Sulu Sea and the Moro
Gulf. The Siocon-Quipit-Taguite-Tumaga basin occupy the southern half of the
Zamboanga Peninsula and encompasses the city of Zamboanga. They are extensive
and serve best as networks for natural drainage. The North-East portion of the
project property abuts the Cabaluay river.
 Ground Water Sources
Zamboanga City is fortunate to have groundwater sources identified to be
located in 13 barangays. Of these, 10 are noted as potable while 3 are not
potable but are being used for domestic purposes. One of these 3 is located in
Guisao.

 Atmosphere
Air quality at the project area is generally good despite of the MCLL
Highway, which is a major vehicular thoroughfare. This may also be due to the
hilly terrain, numerous trees and greenery present within the area.
