Women Entrepreneurship
Meaning and Definition
Women entrepreneurship is the process in which
women initiate a business, gather all resources,
undertake risks, face challenges, provide
employment to others and manages the business
independently. Approximately 1/3rd of the
entrepreneurs in the world women entrepreneurs.
• According to Govt. of India- “A women entrepreneur
is defined as an enterprise owned and controlled by
women having a minimum financial interest of 51%
of the capital and giving at least 51% employment
generated to women.”

Annapurna Scheme
• GOI offers women entrepreneurs in Food
catering
• Loans upto Rs. 50000/-
• Collateral security is required to take loan
• Repaid in 36 monthly instalments
Dena Shakti Scheme
• In this scheme, loans provided for women
entrepreneurs inn agriculture, manufacturing,
micro-credit, retail stores or small enterprises.
• Loans provide upto Rs. 20 lakh
• 0.25% concession on rate of interest under
micro-credit
Oriental Mahila Vikas Yojana Scheme
• Launched by Oriental bank of Commerce
• No collateral security required b/w 10 to 25
lakh
• Repayment period is 7 years
• Concession on interest rate upto 2%
Bhartiya Mahila Bank
• Loans upto Rs. 20 crore to meeting working
capital, business expansion or manufacturing.
• Collateral free loan upto Rs.1 crore for
MSMEs.
• 0.25% concession on rate of interest.
Mudra Yojana Scheme
• General scheme for small units that women
entrepreneurs can avail of too.
• Offered by nationalised banks under PM
Mudra Yojana
• For set up tuition center, beauty parlour,
tailoring etc.
• Loan sanctioned b/w Rs. 50000 to Rs. 50 Lakh
• No collateral is required for loan below Rs. 10
Lakh.
