LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to:
1. explain simple content on familiar topics from what they read and hear by
describing the pictures given using three action verbs.
2. understand independently more complex questions on a wide
range of familiar topics by listening and answering three out of five questions
correctly.

ACTIVITIES
I. PRE-LESSON :
• Start the lesson verbally by selecting five pupils randomly. The chosen pupils will act
out the action associated with the verb (eg: hobbies, picnic) based on the words
given and the rest of the pupils will guess the word/phrase.
• Each group will have to contribute a word or a phrase related to each of the
activities acted out by the pupils.

II. LESSON:DEVELOPMENT :
• Pupils get into groups of 4; with 1:3 ratio of proficient to less proficient pupils
(differentiation)
• Each group is given 4 pictures. Pupils study the pictures for one minute.
• Using the response mode chips, each pupil in every group will receive a
speaking task. For example: pupil A – asking questions, pupil B – giving ideas,
pupil C- giving phrases, pupil D – responding to the idea
• In about 5 minutes, each group will describe every picture (about hobbies)
according to their roles (the pupils will switch roles for every picture)
[FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT – for speaking]
• Pupils will listen to questions from an audio about hobbies. Pupils will answer
on the answer sheet given by teacher. The answer given can be in the form of
words or mind-map according to the pupils’ creativity. [FORMATIVE
ASSESSMENT – for listening]
• Pupils will submit their answer sheets to the teacher to be marked.

III. POST-LESSON
• Pupils review their learning in this lesson by completing the rating card.
Teacher will use it for planning subsequent lessons.
