INTRODUCTION

Community Organizing is one of the various functions involved in nursing profession. It is


among many responses made by the Department of Health to the call of the World Health
Organization in striving harder to achieve optimum health, sustaining health and addressing
health as it is being challenged by continuous national and global changes.

In the effort of supporting the undertakings of WHO, DOH and all the health care providers,
this collaborated work among the members of the Group B of Section 2 NCM 101 is their
humble way in contributing and supporting the endeavors set by these committed health
care agencies and providers.

From the very first day of these students¶ lives in Nursing as they have been already inclined
with health care, their commitment starts here. Realizing the importance of life and health of
each individual and possessing that drive towards the real purpose of being health care
providers are among their motivation as well as their inspiration in accomplishing this
undertaking.

Through this work, the group was able to become part of the community of Barangay 774,
Zone 80, District V, Manila City particularly the families in the Street of
Raymundo.

And through this, the group would continue conveying care to the community as being part
of it, of the nation and as health care providers in delivering care to people and succeed in
the aim towards Optimum Health for Healthy People in 2020.

GENERAL AND SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

General Objective:
The researcher¶s objective is to obtain data and identify the current health
status of Barangay 774 District V San Andres Bukid, Metro Manila.
The study aims to determine the following; demographic data, socio-
economic cultural data and other relevant data that will benefit the
research and to use these to analyze, evaluate, and interpret data to
Barangay.

Specific Objectives:
±To be able to help the community in diagnosing problems regarding
health.
±To be able to help the people in the community to be aware potential
problems inside their community.
±To be able to identify potential problems to be able to prevent it.
SCOPE AND LIMITATION

SCOPE:
Barangay 774, Zone 80, District 5, San Andres at Metro Manila. Has a total of 242
families, within the two thousand one hundred (2,100) population. With the limited time
of the first semester, the students narrowed the scope of their survey to twenty five
families surveyed.

LIMITATION:
The group only surveyed 25 families because of limited time in our exposure in the
community.
METHODOLOGY

We use different methods to collect data such as:

±Ocular Inspection ± an observation using naked eyes to perceived some obvious situation
in the community such as establishment near to it, no. of household, the boundaries of
different streets that we have assigned and etc.

±Community Survey ± a prepared community surveyed tool was used to guide us in asking
questions and to list all answers of interviewee.

±Key Formant Interview ± is the one who is responsible to interview the barangay officials in
order to gather information about the barangay, especially with regard to the history and
population.

±Records Review ± classified as secondary data, which includes data from city hall,
barangay health center and etc.

±Risk factor Assessment and focus Group Discussion ± conducting surveys are used in
many fields to gather data on the knowledge, attitude and behavior of the general public or
specific populations. A well designed survey should practice quantitative rather than
qualitative results. The results should be numerically, accurate and capable of analysis.
Students know how difficult to produce a good survey, a good survey is more than a handful
of questionnaires It requires careful planning,methodical application and detailed analysis
of result..

Summary : The table above shows that 11 families are expending 5,001-10,000 per month; secondly are the families
expending 1,001-5,000 monthly;thirdly there are 3 families expending 15,001-20,000 per month; equally 2 families
have 1,000 and below and 10,001-15,000 each;and lastly no family has 20,001 and above total expenditure.

Analysis : The graph shows that the highest percentage of families¶ expenditures are ranging from 5,001-10,000
monthly (can be related to the Table 5: Percentage Distribution Showing the Average Income Earning of Individual
Surveyed in Barangay 774 Zone District as of September 2010).
