the Youth Association of Asia to visit Japan
- this visit exposed him to traditional
Japanese art which greatly influenced him
 1967 – presented the Philippines at the Sao
Paolo Biennale in Brazil in the category of
sculpture
 1969 - taught advance advertising design at
the National Art School in Randwick, Sydney
 early 1970s – headed the creative
department of the Design Center of the
Philippines and was responsible for the
Philippine exhibits in key cities around the
world
 1989 - became the first Filipino artist to be
represented at the Yayasan Dharma Seni
Museum Neka in Bali, Indonesia
1995 - held his retrospective exhibition at
the Metropolitan Museum of Manila
 spent 10 years at Ace Compton Advertising
as a graphic designer in New York
 60's were the heyday of Pop Art, when
images from mass media, movies,
advertising, and comic books dominated the
scene
 his advertising work influenced his art
 Balinese art and culture
 discerning vision created avenues for
intensity and powerful images
 The sensual grasp of his images reaches far
into the soul, drawing the viewer into the
very recesses of his own reasoning.
