What does Parent mean?

• A person’s father or mother.


• A person who gives birth to or raises a child.
• A person who brings up and cares for another.

• Biological Parent
• Step Parent
• Grand Parent
• Legal Guardian
What does Parent mean?
• A parent’s job is to raise children to be the best
men and women that hey can be.
• It is a hugs responsibility that requires

• Love
• Understanding
What does Parent mean?
• Being a parent means, you possess seven different
qualities:
1. You take care of your child.
2. You are a provider.
3. You are a protector.
4. You love your child.
5. You are a counselor and confidant.
6. You are a teacher.
7. You are a role model

And that’s the PARENTHOOD!


What is Parenthood?
• The state of being a parent specifically, the position, the
function, or a standing of a parent and the
responsibilities involved.
• It is about accepting that you are primarily responsible

Importance of Parenthood

Good parenthood is the practice of taking


good care of one’s offspring and ensuring
that they grow up in a safe and happy
environment, are well educated and know
the difference between right and wrong.

Good parenting is
teaching children facts
and skills and providing a
supportive environment
for children’s independent
learning.
2. Morality
Parents can provide
moral guidance on all
aspects of life, and they
are willing to answer
their kids’ questions about
right and wrong in any
situation.
3. Love
Good parenting is to
provide children with love
throughout their lives and
teach to love others and
make them capable of
loving others and receiving
love.
4. Safety
Good parenting is
important because it
shields children from the
dangers of the world. They
ensure that the home is a
place of safety for their
children.
5. Citizenship
Parents can help to form
children to be good citizens
by teaching them civic
virtues such as
unselfishness, neatness,
truthfulness and willingness
to help others.
6. Teaching Parenthood

Parents provide their


children with a model for
how to bring up a child
that will stay with that
child for life.
7. Respect

Parents can teach their


children to respect the
views of others, and to
respect their elders as well.
8. Support
Parents provide life long
support for their children.
It does not matter how old
a child is, they always
provide them support
whether emotional or
financial.
9. Reciprocity
Parents want from
children to be looked after
and to be provided with
both emotional and
material support in their
old age.

the need and development of children.
• Parents should focus on the moral development
and ethical behavior of their children.

O-Offer your help whenever it’s needed
P-Praise your child for achievements as
well as for efforts
Q-Quickly stop your child from harmful
activities
R-Read together often and make
reading fun
S-Show patience and remember nobody
is perfect
T-Teach health and safety rules
U-Use every opportunity to show your love
V-Value your child’s thoughts and opinion
W-Wait until you cool down before
disciplining your child

CONCLUSION
Emotions can be fleeting, persistent,
powerful, complex and even life-changing.
They can motivate us to act in particular
ways and give us the tools and resources
we need to interact meaningfully in our
social worlds.
