definition

• They are thermoset or thermoplastic amorphous

polymers that have exceptional mechanical,
thermal and chemical properties.
PROPERTIES

• Polyamideimides (PAIs) are high performance

amorphous engineering thermoplastics of yellow to
brown color. They have outstanding thermal,
mechanical, and chemical properties and are
often the best choice for demanding applications
where very high mechanical strength, stiffness and
low friction in combination with high temperature,
corrosion, and wear resistance is required
EPI parts for machining
applications

• Polyamide-imides are used commercially for coatings,

fibers and molded parts.
• The product used mainly for coatings is sold in powder
form and is approximately 50% imidized. One of the
main uses is as a wire enamel.
applications

This fiber belongs to the group

of polyamide-imides and has
been developed by Rhodiaceta.
The constituent polyamide-
imide is obtained by reaction at
180 ° C of the trimellitic
anhydride and the 4,4-
diphenylmethane diisocyanate
dissolved in dimethylacetamide,
with the consequent release of
carbon dioxide.
USOS

One of the main uses is as a wire

enamel. Wire enamelling is obtained
by dissolving the PAI powder in a
strong aprotic solvent such as N-
methyl-pyrrolidone. Diluents and
other additives can be added to
provide the correct viscosity for
application in the copper or aluminum
conductor.
SÍNTESIS

The first route of obtaining polyamide-imides is the
condensation of an aromatic diamine, such as
methylene dianiline (MDA), and trimellitic acid
chloride (TMAC).
