Method of Anesthesia
 When planning the placement of anterior
mandibular implant:
infiltration into vestibule is satisfactory,
although the lingual side of ridge must be
anesthetized as well
 Avoid the mental foramen blook. It may
result in a higher-than-expected number of
long-lasting dysesthesias

 Inthe posterior mandible:
it is preferable to use infiltration
anesthesia rather than nerve blocks
 Soft tissue and bone anesthesia can be
achieved with satisfactory depth, but the
lower lip will not become anesthetized

 Ifthe rotary instruments approach the
mandiblar canal, the patient is able to offer
a warning, the lip will begin to tingle, or a
sensation of heat may be expressed
 By infiltration a significant safety factor can
be built into the procedure

 Although infiltration adds a more
safety factor But still nerve block
technique in the mandiblar
implant is widely being used by
implant practitioners

When planning for implant
placement in the maxilla
infiltration anesthesia will be
sufficient

 Other techniques can be used in maxilla
for deeper and more effeicient anesthasia
as: the infra orbital nerve block and
maxillary nerve block, but these
techniques need well trained hands
