(SHS) refers to the
last two years of
the K to 12
Program, namely
Grades 11 and 12

called when they
finished Grade 10?
ANSWER:
Grade 10

10 but does not want to
enroll in SHS?
ANSWER:
They will consider
“undergraduate”.

Can they go
straight to college

No, because the
law now prescribes
SHS as part of
compulsory basic
education.

benefits of SHS?
Answer:
Graduating from SHS
may lead to

employment when

SHS equips you with

not guarantee that

PAYING FOR SHS:
THE VOUCHER
PROGRAM

How much does it cost to
enroll in SHS in public
schools?
ANSWER:
SHS is free for
public High School
students.
For private High
School students, costs
will vary depending on
the school. They will
also given government
assistance.
QUESTION:
What if they want
to transfer to a
private or non-
DepEd SHS?
ANSWER:
They can get
financial
assistance to pay
your tuition fee
through the
voucher program.
QUESTION:
Do Grade 10
completers from
private schools
also get voucher?
ANSWER:
If they are (Education
Service Contracting) ESC
grantees automatically
get a voucher. If they are
not, they may apply for a
voucher

What can they do
with the voucher?
ANSWER:
The voucher can
cover part of your
entire tuition
including misc.
fees.

Will my voucher
allow me to
choose any
schools?
ANSWER:
Yes. The voucher
will allow you to
choose any private
school granted a
permit by DepEd to
offer SHS.

The full voucher
value varies
depending on the
location of the
school where it
will be used.
