BIOGRAPHY:
 He was born on September 26,1889 in
Messkirch,Germany. Died on May 26,1976 in
Freiburg,Germany.
 Son of Friedrich and Johanna Heidegger.
 Author of the book Sein und Zeit (Being and Time)
,published in 1927 and became his most influential
work.
 Taught philosophical disciplines in Marburg University
and Freiburg University.
 Greatly influenced by Edmund Husserl’s
phenomenology.
 Affiliated with the Nazi Party.

▪ Edmund Husserl-the principal founder of

phenomenology.
▪ PHENOMENOLOGICAL REDUCTION-a
meditative practice that is able to liberate oneself from
the captivation in which one is held by all that one

judgement about the natural world to instead focus on
analysis of experience.

Nihilism-is the philosophical viewpoint that suggest the
denial,or lack of beliefin,the reputedly meaningful
aspects of life.
Absurd-the search for answers in an answerless world.
Authentic existence-the mine-self where existence is
justified by oneself.
Inauthentic existence-the they-self where a person only
exist for others.

2.Thrownness- humans are thrown arbitrarily into
