WATER TREATMENT PLANT

 WTP is used to make the water ready to use in printing press and cooling
towers. Total amount of ground water consumption at the plant is around 75
kld (Kilolitres per day).

These are the parameters of raw water, RO water and Processed water. After treatment in RO
plant water is required to be processed to maintain certain parameters required for paper printing
press.
EFFLUENT TREATMENT PLANT

 Waste water coming out from the printing industry mainly contains
inorganic and organic chemicals and contaminants. Samples are
collected at the inlet of ETP and after the treatment from outlet of the ETP.
 Water quality parameters for pH, conductivity, hardness, chloride, etc., are
checked at that time within the plant, and BOD, COD after 5 days of
sample collection in the laboratory.
 The process involves:
• Primary treatment.
• Physicochemical treatment or Secondary treatment.
• Tertiary treatment.
ETP PROCESS
1. Primary treatment- paper, polythene, wood, plants
etc.
• Aeration tank- increases dissolved oxygen.
2. Secondary treatment
• Dosing- PAC and polyelectrolyte.
• FLASH MIXING- Alum, Lime.
• CLARIFIER- Settling of sludge.
3.Tertiary treatment
a. Filteration- dual media filter (Hard coal, Fine sand &
gravel)
• activated carbon filter- Grades of silicon quartz D
D
sand and activated carbon( turbidity gets M
removed by gravitational system ) F
b. disinfection- UV radiation.

Treatment stages involves:

• PRILIMINARY TREATMENT – removal of floating
items
• PRIMARY TREATMENT- Screening, Skimming,
Aeration.
• SECONDARY TREATMENT
• Bed of micro-organisms. FAB (fluidized D
aerated bed reactor) follows attached M
growth process of biological treatment which F
uses FAB media. Microbes and bacteria
comes in contact wit this media and form a
biofilm and decomposition of sludge takes
place

Observation and Results of STP

• Parameters of Sewage water produced from canteens, washrooms, toilets etc. and
parameters of water after treatment in STP Plant.
CONCLUSION
 Solid (sludge) further not used as it contain large amount of chemical.
 Treated water dose not used to recharge GWT.
 Treated water only used in greenery within the industrial premises.

Possibilities for reuse of resources

 Treated water can be used for flushing within water closet.
 Treated water can reuse in floor washing.

 BOD(biological oxygen demand) and COD(chemical oxygen demand)

removal potency is additionally >80%.
