BACKGROUND – SALIENT FEATURE OF THE ROAD
 Name of work – Balance work for four laning of Bhopal to
Biaora section of NH-12 from Lalghati KM-
315.725 to Mubarakpur Km-324.00 (Bhopal
by pass) Package-1 on EPC made in the
state of Madhya Pradesh

 Design length – 8.275 Km


 National Highway – NH-12 (PKG-1)
 Project Cost – 221.88 Cr.
 Date of convincement – 28-11-17
 Schedule date of completion – 27-11-19
 Client – NHAI
 Authority Engineer – Feed back Infra Pvt. Ltd.
 EPC contractor – Centroorstroy (India) Pvt. Ltd.

ROAD SAFETY AUDIT TEAM
OBJECTIVE OF ROAD SAFETY AUDIT

• Provide a safe working environment for road


workers;
• Ensure safety for all road users, including
pedestrians;
• Warn all approaching road users of the road
works and guide then safely through, past or
around the work site;
• Provide minimum inconvenience for the
travelling public;
• Provide minimum inconvenience to work at the
road work site.

 TAFFIC MANAGEMENT PLAN (TMP)


SITE – 1
(BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION)
30M – 50M FROM THE START POINT
DIVERSION BOARD NOT ON PROPER LOCATION
Observations :- Uncontrolled vehicular traffic may fall in to
construction zone that may lead to serious injury to
passenger as well as construction works.

Mitigation :- Diversion Board needs to be properly designed and


needs to be provided at proper Location to accommodate smooth
traffic flow from all legs of the junction.
STACKING OF MATERIAL ON ROAD.

Observations :- Risk of vehicles hitting form stacked


material during nights

Mitigation :- Needs to clear the roadway form stack material


immediately. They shall be kept free from encroachment and
stacking of material. Need removal of unserviceable materials
and ensure it is maintained clear in future. And also provide
the sufficient roadway width for the movement of traffic.
INCONSISTENT USE OF RESTRICTION SIGN BOARD
Observations :-

Mitigation :-

• Old sign boards should be reviewed and removed or should be placed


at proper locations
UNCOVERED DRAIN
Observations :- Risk of vehicle wheels going into the
drain that may lead to vehicular breakdown and injury to
passengers too Risk of head on collision specially at night.

Mitigation :-
• Drain needs to be covered, it will enhance road capacity too
ENCROACHMENTS ON SHOULDER
Observations :-
• Restricted road way width as entire shoulder and parts of
the carriageways are encroached.
• No traffic calming measure has been taken to control speed
at this point.
• Unrestricted public access in work zone.

Mitigation :-
• Maintain adequate roadway width, cross section, free for
traffic movement.
• Ensure shoulders and carriageways are only used for traffic
movement.
EXPOSE OF REINFORCEMENT ON VEHICLES
STANDING ROADSIDE MAY HARM/HIT
Observations :- Risk of Vehicle hitting exposed reinforcement
particularly at night

Mitigation :- Proper Barricades needs to be provided to prevent


vehicle hitting during nights
EDGE CUTS & EDGE DROPS
Observations :-

Mitigation :-
• Ensure regular maintenance of road by repairing shoulder
dropping, edge breaking of carriageway etc.
• Compacted and well Maintained shoulders provide lateral
support to the pavement and sometimes provide way to slow
moving vehicles and ensure the width and compaction of the
shoulder.
NO BARRICADING
Observations :- Risk of Vehicle hitting the construction zone
during nights

Mitigation :-
• Proper Barricades should be provided from safety point of view
NO PROPER ARRANGEMENT FOR WORKERS
Observations :-

Mitigation :- PPEs need to be provided and laborer needs to be


encouraged to use protection equipment’s for their safety.
SITE – 2
(PQC)
4.50 KM FROM THE START POINT
EDGE CUTS
Observations :- Risk of Accident during nights

Mitigation :-
• Ensure regular maintenance of road by repairing shoulder
dropping, edge breaking of carriageway etc.
• Barricades should be provided from safety point of view.
MEN AT WORK WITHOUT PPE’S
Observations :-

Mitigation :-
• Laborer needs to be encouraged to use protection equipment’s
for their safety.
• Gum boots and gloves should be use during construction time.
