Abstract
•We’re used to AI assistants—Alexa
playing music in the living room, Siri
setting alarms on your phone—but they
haven’t really lived up to their alleged
smarts.
•New techniques that capture semantic
relationships between words are making
machines better at understanding natural
language.
•They were supposed to have simplified
our lives, but they’ve barely made a
dent. They recognize only a narrow
range of directives and are easily tripped
up by deviations.
 Introduction
• AI assistant, also called virtual
assistant or digital assistant, is
an application program that
understands natural language voice
commands and completes tasks for the
user.
•Such tasks, historically performed by
a personal assistant or secretary,
include taking dictation, reading text
or email messages aloud, looking up
phone numbers, scheduling, placing
phone calls and reminding the end
user about appointments. Popular
virtual assistants currently include
Amazon Alexa, Apple's Siri, Google
Now and Microsoft's Cortana
Basic concepts used
 Automatic speech recognition:To understand commands
according to users input.
 Artificial intelligence:To learn things from user and to store all
information about behavior and relations of user
 Natural language processing: to understand users speech input

 Basically consists of three layers
 Speech to text
 Text analysing
 Interpret commands
Working
 Speech to text:
 A piece of software used that converts audio to text.
 It doesn’t understand just anything you might say.
 Text analysing:
 Converted text is just letters for computer.
 A piece of software converts text to something that is
understandable for computer.
 Computer understand the cammand,so AI assistant like sire
convert this text to compurt command.

 In this layer, that mapped computer command,go to server
through internet.
 Simultaneously,your speech evaluated locally.
 A local recogniser communication with server to judge whether
command will be best handle locally or not.

Conclusion
• AI assistants can now perform conversation-based tasks like
booking a restaurant reservation or coordinating a package
drop-off rather than just obey simple commands
• These improvements, coupled with better speech synthesis, are
letting us move from giving AI assistants simple commands to
having conversations with them. They’ll be able to deal with
daily minutiae like taking meeting notes, finding information,
or shopping online.
