THE PAST TENSE OF BE O PAST PROGRESSIVE

We use the past continuous to indicate that a longer action in


the past was interrupted. The interruption is usually a shorter
action in the simple past.

THE SIMPLE PAST TENSE

Is used to show that a completed action took place at a


specific time in the past.
The simple past is also frequently used to talk about past
habits and generalizations.

Example: I lived in Brazil for two years.

REGULAR VERBS:

The past tense of the verb want is wanted.

Wanted is used as the past tense for all subjects/pronouns.

NEGATIVE SENTENCES

The negative form, we have to use the auxiliary DID NOT OR DIDN´T
and the infinitive form ot the verb.

5. They didn't study so they didn't pass the test.
6. We didn't sleep well last night.
QUESTIONS IN THE SIMPLE PAST TENSE
Questions are also very easy. Just put 'did' before the subject, and the
infinitive after it.
