MODIFIED CABBAGE RELAY

DIRECTIONS: With a music, you will pass the

object called cabbage to your classmate.
When music stops student who got the object
will answer the question given to him/her.
REVIEW QUESTIONS
Give the differences of chemical change and
physical change.
Give three examples that shows chemical
change takes place.

What do you call that biological catalysts

that speeds up any chemical reactions?
4PICS 1WORD

Four pictures will be shown to the students

that tells only one word. Students will try to
guess what the word is trying to imply in the
pictures.
RATE
REACTION
COLLISION
OBJECTIVE/S FOR THE DAY:

Use simple collision theory to

explain the effects of
concentration, temperature and
particle on the rate of reaction.
RATE OF REACTION
- is how fast and how slow a
chemical reaction occurs.

BUT HOW WOULD REACTION TAKES PLACE?

ACTIVITY 2: LEARNING COOPERATIVELY

• The class will be divided into two groups.

Everyone will watch a video about the
collision theory. Each group will answer the
questions pasted/flashed in the board/tv
monitor.
• After they answer, each group will choose a
representative to report their output.
GUIDE QUESTIONS:
1. What are the factors that affect the rate of
reaction in the reactants?
2. What is the relationship of the reaction rate
to the speed of molecular collision?
3. What does collision says about rate of
reaction?
COLLISION THEORY
OUTPUT
PRESENTATION BY
GROUP
COLLISION THEORY
- States that to be able to have
and/or to have an increase of
the rate of reaction, the
particles of two different
substance must collide.
FACTORS AFFECTING THE RATE OF
REACTION
1. REACTANT CONCENTRATION

- At a higher
concentration, the
molecules collide
more often that
results in an increase
of reaction rates
2. INCREASE IN TEMPERATURE
-when temperature
becomes higher,
molecules of the
reactants move
faster and the
energy of the
colliding particles
become greater.
PARTICLES OF HIGHER TEMP AND
LOWER TEMPERATURE
3. PARTICLE SIZE
- Smaller reactant -

particles provide a
greater surface
area which
increases the
chance for particle
collisions
The relationship of the
speed of collision of the
particles in a reactants is
directly proportional to the
rate of reaction.
APPLYING WHAT YOU HAVE LEARNED
1. Mixture of powdered cacao in a
water.
2. 10 mL of zonrox mixed in a 5 mL
of water
3. Boiling chicken soup
ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS:

1. What is collision theory?

2. What are the factors that
affect the rate of reaction of
a substance?
QUIZ # 7
1. What does collision theory says about rate of
reaction?
2. What are the factors that affect rate of
reaction? Give example of an instance where
rate of reaction increases because of these
factors?
3. What is the relationship of the rate of reaction
to the number of molecular collision?
ASSIGNMENT: ANSWER THE
FOLLOWING QUESTION IN A PAPER.
1. Does all collision of particles
always end up to the increase of
the rate of reaction? Justify your
answer.
