The document discusses various types of water resources including surface water, ground water, rain, frozen water, and their uses. Surface water includes lakes and rivers, while ground water flows below the water table. The majority of water usage is for agriculture at 70%, followed by industrial uses at 22% and household purposes at 8%. Environmental and recreational water usage also contribute to the total. Fresh water is a limited resource, with 97% of the earth's water being salt water and only 3% fresh.

Water resources are the sources that are useful or
potentially useful .Uses of water include agricultural, industrial , household etc.
The majority of human use require Fresh Water.
97% of the earth’s water is salt & only 3% of the water
is fresh. TYPES OF WATER RESOURCES
Surface Water:-Surface water is the water in the lake
,river etc. Surface water is naturally lost replenished by precipitation & naturally lost through discharge to the oceans ,evaporation etc.
Natural Wetland:-Natural surface water can be
augmented by importing surface water from another watershed through a canal or pipe. Brazil is the country estimated to have the largest supply of fresh water. Rain :- Rain is the most important source of water . It is the purest water .It is clear ,bright ,soft. Although it is pure but it might contain some impurities such as Co2 ,nitrogen ,dust etc. These are picked by rain water from the atmosphere.
Ground Water:-Ground water is fresh water located in
the pore space of soil & rocks .It is the water which is flowing below the water table .Therefore, it is also known as sub-surface water. Frozen Water :-Frozen water is the water which is frozen in glaciers ,mountains etc . Several schemes have been proposed to make use of icebergs as a water resource.
The Himalayas ,which is often called The roof of the
world contain some of the most extensive & rough high altitude areas on earth as well as the greatest area of glaciers . USES OF WATER
Agricultural:-It is estimated that 70% of worldwide
water use is for irrigation .To produce food for the now over 7 billion people who inhabit the planet today requires the water that would fill a canal ten meters deep ,100 meters wide & 2100 km long. Industrial:-It is estimated that 22% of worldwide water is used in industries . Major industrial use include hydroelectric dams ,thermoelectric power plants which use water for cooling.
Household:-It is estimated that 8% of worldwide water
use is for household purposes. These include drinking ,bathing ,cooking ,gardening etc. Recreation:- Recreational water use is usually very small but growing percentage of total water use .Golf courses are often targeted as using excessive amounts of water ,especially in drier regions.
Environmental:-Environmental water usage includes
watering of natural or artificial wetlands ,artificial lakes intended to create wildlife habitat ,fish ladders etc.
