4 MIN OFFENSE BALL CONTROL

COACHING 1. No fumbles – PROTECT the ball

POINTS: 2. No interceptions
3. Go up field – Cannot lose yardage, no lateral, no
big plays by scrambling back
4. Use tight formations
5. Stay in bounds
6. Use full 40 seconds putting ball in play. QB
manages the clock
7. Use timing routes. (Cannot hold ball if using passing
game)
8. Assume blitz and line stunts on every down
9. Every inch counts for our punter and defense
10. Have poise – Every penalty is disastrous – and it
stops the clock
11. No involved ball “handling” (Reverse pivot, etc.)
12. Absolute Effort to make 1st Down. Full awareness of
distance to go on pass patterns – Receivers need to
know what we need
13. Must know when time starts with referee’s signal if
clock is stopped
14. Keep clock running
15. Running play can use as little as 3 seconds off the
clock
16. QB, NO Fakes, you are the last line of defense
17. Need 1st Down for each time out the defense has
left
