•Unless instructed otherwise, detached receivers away from any constraint call run
Hitches (3 big steps + 2 little & plant).
•This is the QB’s ‘gift’ – his first pre-snap scan is an Alley Assessment to see if he
has a ‘Free Access’ alley away from the Constraint call; if he does, he will throw the
Hitch off a rocker step on the snap of the ball.

with a constraint is called will be DUAL THREAT players….
•…threats to either catch the Backside Hitch if the QB decides it’s a gift
•…or to motion (“Sink”) to the backfield to potentially execute the run called
•Remind your QB as you break the huddle – “Dual threat.”
•Align in your Star or Stout position with a Wide Split (Halfway between the
numbers and the sideline), and assume that the ball is about to be snapped and
you’re going to run a HITCH (3 big steps plus 2), catch the ball, make a tight turn,
and score.
•As you’re looking in at the ball, if you see the QB wave his hand to you, “Sink” in
motion to the backfield, and execute the run called on the correct cadence
•QB: If you have a Star-Stout RB, go through your normal pre-snap assessments. If
Slot & Alley are both dirty, make sure everyone is set, WAVE at the RB, and start
your cadence

•Calls with NFL names will enlist receivers in some sort of “Fast Screen” concept
•NFL constraints involve NO CHANGE for offensive linemen!
•The QB will decide PRE-SNAP what to execute based on a “SLOT ASSESSMENT”,
the key being to HOLD HIS EYES on the Slot right up until the ball is snapped.
•The following are at a PREMIUM on NFL constraints and must be perfected
RUTHLESSLY in practice:
*Correct Splits (receivers) *Rendezvous points (receivers)
*MDM recognition (interior receivers, especially
*Finishing blocks/running the number (receivers)
*Decisive run after catch / reading blockers’ cheeks (screener)
*Quick release – velocity – ball placement (quarterback)
•An overview of our NFL constraints follows:
•INDIANAPOLIS Bubble Screen to Inside receiver
•MIAMI Now Screen to Middle receiver

Intro
Summar
y Table

•“Inbounds plays” in basketball are used to:

a) Get an easy layup or clean shot for a shooter by their design, and then to
b) Get into the regular offense
•When we signal for a “Stacked” alignment by the RB – either to the boundary or to
the wide field, and a RUN is part of the play call (with or without some other kind of
restraint involved), we are using the RB’s “stacked” alignment as, in effect, and
INBOUNDS PLAY.
•“Stack” (by call or signal) tells the RB to:
*Align directly behind the widest receiver if told to stack into the BOUNDARY
*Align directly behind the first DETACHED receiver (Middle of 3) if to the FIELD
•The “easy layup” we’re looking to get from the stacked alignment before ‘getting
into our regular offense’ is one of our NOW screens – OAKLAND if the RB is to the
boundary, MIAMI if he’s to the field.
•If the QB sees a ‘clean Slot’ to the side the RB stacks, he carries out the cadence
WITHOUT motioning the RB back into the backfield, and throws the ball NOW to R.
•If the QB sees a ‘dirty Slot’, he starts the cadence, motions the RB back into the
backfield with a wave, and executes the play originally called.

•Procedure & reminders – RB must make it happen!

•Upon seeing the signal / before going to align, the RB says to the QB, “STACK
STACK STACK” to remind him to assess the ‘inbounds play’ before running the
normal play, and as a reminder to SINK him into the backfield if he sees a Dirty
Slot
•When he aligns, the RB says to receivers on his side “OAKLAND OAKLAND
OAKLAND” (boundary) or “MIAMI MIAMI MIAMI” (field) to tell them that the
constraint he’s calling for OVERRIDES the play call UNTIL he sinks to the
backfield. In other words, receivers align to execute the Raider or Saint
screen, and do so unless he is motioned back. If he IS motioned back, they
run what the play originally told them to do from their Saint or Raider split
•The RB SETS the SPLIT for the receiver he’s stacking behind.
•Hash (Field – Miami)
•Sideline Minus 4 (Boundary – Oakland)
